How good is Margarito gentlemen.....????

    Had been a casual fan for a while (Im a welshman) but after that agaisnt cintron I began delving a bit deeper. The man is aggression personified & while he sure isnt a pugilistic purist he'll do for me...!!!!
    This match up with Cotto is what the game is all about & the old school clashes we miss revisited , Im also a fan of Cotto so I really cant wait for this............:good

    He didn't look too good against Clottey nor Williams, but I like his no bull**** style of fighting.

    A modern man Harry Greb I imagine.

    He's a good fighter. A lot of stamina, he's strong, has decent power, high workrate and is very tough.

    Though his most glaring weaknesses I feel is his defense and lack of speed.

    Margarito is a tough as nails brawler with an excellent chin.
    He is a big welterweight who likes to fight on the inside.

    He may not be great, but he has the style and assets that would give anyone problems.

    I love Margarito. I want to say that his the best Welterweight in the world, but that's not true. I still do have a feeling though that he might pull out the win against Cotto. I don't really know why, the only edge I can give to Margarito is his chin, the rest of the attributes I give a slight edge to Cotto.

    Totally agree with the replies lads & although technically there are flaws his non stop aggressive style is giving ANYONE problems , Maybe I'd rather a brawler than a boxer but I'm certainly a big fan..........!!!!!!

    He is very good but not really at the elite level. He is the kind of fighter who will always be the 3rd or 4th best in his division as someone is always better than him.

    That comment will look stupid should Margarito beat Cotto but as of now I agree with it(although I would say 2nd or 3rd best in his Div:deal )

    I know where your coming from hmi but in my book top 5 in the world is elite , I think his style would make some "boxing" fans veer away from him but he's certainly effective.......The problem is at the weight is you have arguablly one of the best technically gifted boxers ever (in my opinion) in Floyd & unfortunately everyone else in the division is judged against this. Floyd aside Margarito can give anyone else (2nd,3rd,4th etc...) serious problems & some . The question is could he really trouble Mayweather , I'd like to think yes if he could get Floyd into his type of fight but the big problem is Floyd never gets into ANYONES type of fight except his own...!!!
