He's a very good fighter who puts tons of pressure on you, has an awesome work rate, a fan friendly style, and a granite chin. He doesn't have the best skills out there, but he will do what he's gotta do to get the job done.

I will not argue with you on your definition of elite. To each his own. You are right that there is a very very good boxer in his division and that, for me, is the definition of elite (though this guy is at the top echelon of the elites). Margo still needs to prove that he is an elite. But he is very good indeed.

If he gets a quick start against Mayweather I think Margarito would win. After we saw his ridiculous chin in the second Cintron fight I doubt Mayweather could do anything to hurt him. Plus Margarito's size would pose a big problem on Floyd as he would have a very good reach and be great on the inside. I think Margarito's physicality and chin could be the difference.

He's okay, the sort of guy that will expose any fradulent hype job like Berto because he has a granite chin, a relentless approach and decent power. That said, he's nothing more than B level. Defence is horrible, he's really slow on his feet and susceptible to being outboxed by the better fighters in the division

High work rate. Big heart. Comes to fight. Good power. Not great power. His most durable chin in boxing fame is pure BS. Cintron hits hard but you have to stand there so he can hit you. Besides a straight right hand he has nothing else. What other great puncher is in Tony's resume??? I can't think of anybody right now. He has problems with good boxers. Cotto has demostrated he can box. One thing is for sure, if Cotto makes a mistake and get hurts, Tony knows how to finish the job. In the other side, Tony's last four losses were against southpaw fighters. GUESS WHAT?? Miguel Cotto is left handed. And he can box from any stance. And I don't think Cotto will be aiming for the chin.

Yeah, he's definitely a 'no bull****' type of fighter. Rock solid chin, only comes forward, digs to the body, and throws boat loads of punches that wear guys down. Susceptible to good outboxers and more skilled fighters.

From all accounts, Hary Greb was very fast and good defensively. Two attributes that one cannot use to describe Margarito. So in that regard, I'd compare Joe Calzaghe more to Greb.

A very solid fighter who is under rated on these forums for some unknown reason. A guy who although basic in his approach, is very tough, has tremendous stamina, and the ability to BREAK YOU DOWN. Would be a VERY tough match up for anyone at Welter.

I think the top guys would beat him, but thats about it.

Would be very interested to see Quintana vs Marg, i think Carlos could potentially outbox him. He will give Cotto a tough fight, although Cotto will ultimately be too good. He would do the same to Shane also. PBF would outbox Marg, and potshot his way to a decision.

Regardless, he is certainly no easy task for any of the top fighters in the div.
