I've just been watching Hatton - Tszyu and after watching it again, I think it's going to be IMPOSSIBLE for Mayweather to keep Hatton off him and at no point will he be able to fight at long distance or even middle distance, I think the fight will take place on Mayweather's chest.

Is Mayweather good enough on the inside to beat Hatton? Does he have the power to hurt Hatton without winding up punches?

I don't think you can judge Hatton/Floyd on Hatton/Tszyu. Two completely different fighters. Kosta liked to measure guys and smack the **** out of them at mid-range. PBF can stand in the pocket or counter against the ropes, but chances are he'll use lateral movement to keep Hatton and at range and pop-shot him or counter him.

He is a better inside fighter than hatton

Mayweather ideally, does not want to fight on the inside with Hatton, but he is more than capable of it. First, he is tough to hit at close quarters. His shoulder roll defense and head movement make it hard to catch him even at such a close distance. Secondly, Floyd throws quick/accurate counter shots on the inside. He can throw in some sneaky uppercuts, right hands, and left hooks.

I believe Mayweather could potentially get the better of Hatton at times on the inside because of his afformentioned strengths in close. Whitaker did it with Chavez, perhaps we could see a similar occurance.

He's very underrated by a lot of people. I'd say the most simaler fighter he's faced to Hatton stylistically was Chavez, and he tagged him at will. Also, N'dou and Bruseles attempted to put pressure on him in a somewhat simaler fashion, and although none of these fighters had the speed, power or skill as Hatton, he picked them off relatively easily.

I still maintain he'd be pretty stupid to allow Hatton to maul him all night long though, as this is Hattons game, but he's elusive, can switch-hit, and control the fight more or less as he pleases. He's very adaptable. But to think that he'll just fold under pressure in the first few rounds would be a mistake.

Collazo did a GOOD job keeping Hatton at bay when he wanted to.

I don't think he can keep him mid-range.

Hatton's relentless. He gets on the inside no matter what. Whether it's by walking through a punch, lunging in or simply mauling his way in. He's very, very hard to fight.

Mayweather's going to have do the damage on the inside, I can't see him pot shotting Hatton for 12 rounds, I don't think you can do it to him.

He didn't really keep Hatton off him though, if you watch in the 12th, he's getting hurt but he's still coming forward and getting into Collazo.

Like I'm saying, you have to hurt Hatton on the inside....even then he won't stop coming at you. Can Floyd hurt him on the inside sufficiently?

That's a bad example of Hatton anyway, he was over-bulked and sluggish. Hatton won't be like that come this fight.

I think you misread me. Kostya liked to keep guys at midrange, not Floyd.

You obviously live in brittan and love hatton, because those two questions are a joke. Are you serious?!! Its going to be close to IMPOSSIBLE (not saying its completely impossible) for hatton to win this fight and it will sure be IMPOSSIBLE for hatton to even catch floyd on the inside. The only way hatton will get floyd on the inside is if floyd LETS hatton on the inside. The only reason he let Oscar inside and let him punch to his body was to show everyone that DOUBTED him that fight, that he can take a punch from a heavy hitter in close range. All that will happen is floyd will eventually get cut(which just happens in a fight) off and he will lay on the ropes and wait for hatton to come in a throw a punch and floyd will simply ROLL the punch and slip out like he always does. I dont think they say floyd defense is one of the best for no apparent reason. And that is a BIG reason why. HE NEVER GETS HIT!!!!! This fight will take place in the middle of the ring!!

Mayweather can use a strategy-technique used agaist Zab which is extending his left arm to keep his shorter opponent occupied and come underneath with a right body shot with reduced leverage but all of a sudden, he gets his opponent's guard down and blasts a left hook upstairs and that is quite effective.

    Exactly.

He is quick as hell, and has great defense when fighting inside.

The man is slippery as hell, and does a great job at avoiding getting hit, even on the inside.

He holds alot on the inside, also likes to shove his elbow in opponants face - both illegal moves.
