He KOd Bakole, Kuzmin and officially got a draw with Povetkin. That's enough to land top 10 in terms of merit of resume.
He's good. People pooping on him because he had one very bad day at the office against Jeremy Forrest when there was clearly something very wrong with him and he was way below his best. He even puked in his corner mid fight Hunter stopped Kiladze in 5, the same amount of rounds it took Joe Joyce, the savage punching Ajagba who Kiladze dropped hard, and one round quicker than it took Kownacki Hunter also stopped the unbeaten savage punching streaking Bakole in 10 despite the later being way bigger than him and having over 40lbs on him. Bakole is a danger man and he harvested the highly regarded by many Yoka's soul on Yoka's own soil Hunter stopped Ustinov in 9 despite the later having over 66lbs on him And Hunter dropped the tough unbeaten Kuzmin hard too who had 37lbs on him and blew right through the 25lbs heavier and never before previously stopped Fabio Maldonado in just 2 rounds, the same Maldonado who in his previous two fights had lasted the distance against Oscar Rivas, Oleksandr Teslenko and after fighting Hunter lasted the full route against Carlos Takam too. Takam praised Maldonado's toughness after the fight And of course Hunter hurt the teak-tough Povetkin badly a couple of times. Granted Povetkin was way past his best and his punch resistance not what it once was but that was a better and tougher version than the shot shell who fought Whyte. The Hunter fight took a significant amount out of Povetkin. Many feel Hunter won that fight. He gave Usyk a tough fight until Usyk stepped it up a level Hunter is CW Level when firing on all cylinders Bakole, Kuzmin, and Ustinov all failed their CW Level tests against Hunter Diamond Boy Charr failed his CW Level test against Briedis Valuev failed his CW Level test against Haye Arreola failed his CW Level test against Adamek Povetkin struggled badly when he made the step up to CW Level against Huck and Michael ''The Bounty'' Hunter Chisora failed his CW Level tests against Haye and Usyk Buster Douglas, Bowe (second fight when the Real Deal showed up) many other HWs failed their CW Level tests against Holyfield Lots of top HWs have failed their CW Level tests against Gassiev in the gym Fury passed his CW Level test against Cunningham but he had to haul his ass off the canvas, was taken to hell and back, and still to this day says it was his hardest fight and he's clearly ducking CW Level GOAT Usyk now And now AJ failed his first and second CW Level tests against The Usyk God Timestamped This content is protected
Let's see ... he's approaching 35 years old, he's been a pro for 10 years and he only has 20 wins. He turned pro at heavyweight and spent the first few years of his career there. He decided cruiserweight would be easier so he dropped down. But he never won anything there. So he moved back up to heavyweight. His 19th and 20th wins came against Shaun Laughery and a 40-something cruiserweight Mike Wilson, who once beat Hunter 20 years ago in the amateurs when they were teenagers. He avoided an IBF eliminator against Hrgovic to fight Jerry Forrest and, as a result, got bounced out of the ratings. And he only managed a draw with Forrest ... which Hunter was lucky to get. He's currently trying to earn a crack at a WBA 'Regular' belt. But he has to get through Hughie Fury, which, for him, isn't a sure thing. Hunter wants what Trevor Bryan USED to have. Trevor Bryan has achieved more Mike Hunter. So ... that's about how good he is.
I wouldn’t say completely without heart but he’s lazy, been lazy through his whole career, even as a amateur, luckily for him he’s talented so he gets by because of it but he makes it a lot harder for himself because he’s never in shape. All ppl that been around him says the same thing.
He used to be pretty good. A wild, awkward type of guy that didn't look the smoothest technically but still seemed to get results, especially against slower HWs. He lost something after the Povetkin fight though, stopped taking risks or fighting to the best of his ability. His last fight against Jerry Forrest was a horrendous performance, though I reserve the possibility that he was sick going into it or coming off a bender or something. It's a shame he never took the Hrgovic fight. He could have won that and derailed the hype bubble with another underdog victory. Would have been awesome for his career. Sadly I think his best days are behind him.
Freaken boxing fans are hilarious. Hunter has one bad fight at heavyweight and everyone writes him off. All of a sudden they forget his performances vs Usyk, Povetkin, Bakole.
