I have probably read a million posts about hatton's chin and how supposedly bad it is but virtually none on pacquiao. SO I decided to ask you guys just how good is Pac's chin. Pacquiao was KO'd twice, by Torrencampo and Sigguearat (dont know how to spell his name). He was also knocked down and nearly out by Nedal Huessain (had it not have been for the hometown ref he would have been stopped). He was down against Serikzhan Yeshmagambetov. He was possibly down against other fighters earlier in his career that I am unaware of. He has also been wobbled many times as well. Marquez wobbled Manny in both fights. As did Barrera and Morales. Oscar Larios wobbled Manny bad as well. You guys can say what you want but all of these guys are much smaller then Hatton. So if Manny was wobbled by these guys he can easily be KO'd by hatton. This also ends the debate about Hatton being the only one in this match to have a bad chin. I am not saying Pacquiao has a bad chin but just pointing out that he can be hurt too and he has been on several occasions. So how good do you guys think Pac's chin is?
I think Pacquiao chin is good - solid. He's been chin checked but then again he also fought off-balance a lot early in his career, and don't forget the early stoppages have long been linked to his weight issues. Is his chin made of steel? No. Is he susceptible to the body? Yes. But his defense has improved in the area of avoiding punishment over the years. Hatton on the other hand - walks into punches. Hopefully that's been improved on by his new and soon to be ex- trainer.
his Chin is unknown at 140. DLH did not lay a glove on him so that fight told us nothing. We will know about both fighters Chin on Saturday.
Pac has a very good chin but it hasn't been tested above 130. If he can absorb hatton's punches as he did against the smaller guys, then he'd have a better chance.
I am glad someone made a thread like this because I noticed also no one is really considering Pacs durability at 140 and everyone is just assuming that for every punch Hatton lands Pac will land 5 so it wont matter. Nobody really knows if Pac could survive a hard war with a big Junior Welter and my feeling is that Hatton will land some of the hardest punches he has ever felt.
Thats another thing. Alot of people say he was KO'd because of being weight drained but I dispute that. Since when does being weight drained have anything to do with not being able to take a body shot? Many fighters have trouble making weight but that doesnt mean that they are vunerable to body shots. I think thats a non-issue in regards to his KO losses.
being weight drained has a huge impact on you physically, it drains your body and you fatigue easily, your reaction time decreases and you become lethargic in your defense. stuff like that.
This is a bad and rather ignorant post to be honest. Why can't you just criticize people for slating Hatton's chin unjustly without this biased and thoroughly ill-informed thread?? Hatton's chin was highly suspect against Lazcano, but I agree with you that people are going a bit over-the-top in questioning Ricky's resilience. He was clearly affected by nerves against Lazcano and was not as tough as he usually is. He proved against Tszyu that his chin is good (though Mayweather and Collazo proved it is not great though). However, your Pacquiao comments are laughable. For a start, one of his KOs was a bodyshot when he was 17 or 18, so how that has any relevance to his chin right now is beyond me. You clearly haven't seen that fight, so you shouldn't be commenting on it. He was nowhere near nearly out against Hussein, so wrong there as well. Yes, he was knocked down a few times in his early career, but that is obviously of only marginal importance when set against his strong-chinned displays of recent years. Morales wobbled him? Morales would wobble almost anyone at the weights he fought at. That proves nothing. Barrera wobbled him? When? There was no serious wobble against MAB. Marquez wobbled him? Marquez can KO the best natural lightweights in the world! It would take a chin of Wayne McCullough or Oliver McCall style proportions to not be wobbled by him. He could stop anyone at 130. Oscar Larios wobbled him - would this be the same Oscar Larios who managed to stop Wayne McCullough (which Naz Hamed, Morales & Zaragoza had failed to do), and who Pac floored twice and was not floored by once? Since Pacquiao came to the world's attention by blitzing Barrera in '03, how many times has he been stopped? How many times has he been knocked down? Did Morales or Marquez drop him? How many times did drop those two?? Pacquiao's chin is solid.
Thank you. Manny doesn't have one of those military grade, Andrade/ McCall/ Chuvalo chins, but he makes up for it with insane fitness, which aids your punch recovery abilities. I honestly think Larios had him more buzzed than any of the Mexican triumvirate, but he couldn't capitalize. The point about balance is important. A fighter as technically brilliant as Marquez found it difficult to catch him square in their second fight. I don't think Manny is ever going to be perfect with his feet, but compared to where he was five or six years ago (let alone when he couldn't legally drink), there's not even any comparison.
It is basically solid. BUT it has not been tested actually in higher weights like 140... Ricky has some mean pop in his hands.. Im seriously worried about Manny here if Hatton nails him in ropes.:think I hope it hold up those bombs Ricky is dropping but the most importand I hope Manny wont let him get into position where ricky can nail him into ropes.
hatton will test pacmans chin! Hatton wins no doubt for me! Pacman good fighter but hatton is more agressive!
