He's been added to the April 6th Macau card with Zou Shiming, Viloria, Martinez, Martirosyan, Magdaleno & Vasquez Jr. Fighting a Japanese guy with a decent looking record. I've got tickets for this. Any info on him?
24 yr old Fleming 17-0-0 is a slick punching southpaw trained by Billy Hussein in Sydney. Fleming's record is padded and it's hard to pick out a fight that coud be called his best win. Hard to tell where he's at till he faces stiffer competition. But apart from that he will be too good for Yoshida.
I think he is very good and could do great, but not at the rate he is going his competition has been disgusting, he could at least fight Tomlinson's left overs...
Terrific card for Macau...Top Rank have really stacked it up to see if it works. Martinez-Magdaleno is quality.
Not to sound rude, but this is Paul flemming the dark-skinned lad? If it is he used to fight out of the local Gym here.
Yeah dark skinned and covered in tattoos. Look Paul is probably the best prospect we have in Australia under lightweight. In my opinion he is streaks ahead of both Tomlinson and Brunkner, though he has fought sub par opposition as a pro and is largely untested. I know for a fact that he easily handled Brunkner as an amateur when he was 17 and Brunkner was an ex Olympian and from what I've been told he handled Tomlinson in sparring around the same time. He is extremely fast, has good movement and natural reflexes, can punch and is a good finisher. The Frenchman he just lost to at the Beijing Olympics went on to win the Silver medal and Paul was only a kid at the time, though the Frenchman did get stopped in the final by Vasyl Lomachenko. The only problems with him is his lack of opposition given his considerable talent and how this will affect him if he ever steps up and if his lack of activity over the last four and a half years has hampered his development as a pro or his desire to fight. You have to remember he was having 20-30 fights a year as an amateur and he's lucky to have 3 or 4 fights a year as a prospect.
Cheers man. Yeah I remember Pauly, I was at a tournament in Gladstone with him in 2005, and he was wearing the Australian AIS boxing outfit. So I said to him, "I didn't know you were sponsored by the AIS?" "I'm not, I stole this from some **** at the last tournament." :rofl He is one of the best Amateur fighters I have ever seen, he is/was a **** load more talented and natural than Jarrod Fletcher is. I hope he does start to go well, I've heard his record is a winning one, but a shame to hear it's padded as all hell.
