He had only 8 amature fights and turned pro in 2005. He's already 29 years old with a record of 27-0 with 20 by ko. I dont hear many boxing fans talk about him. How good is he and how far will he go? I personally only really paid attention to him when he fought Winky and i thought he looked great. His style reminds me of Floyd and he happens to be from Grand Rapids. After a few more fights, i think he can beat the best at 160. He made that much of an impression on me in his last fight. Your thoughts?
Very Defensive Fighter, Sledgehammer Right Hand. Decent Chin. Charismatic. Only flaw seems to be that he is hesitant to initiate offense. I like him. Nickname is BOSS
He has a good manager. Put it this way - he won't be fighting GGG or Proksa winner. He won't be fighting Chavez V Martinez winner. But he certainly might be fighting Geale or Sturm winner
His fight with Rubio got cancled, not sure why? That would've been his best test to date, otherwise he's got a very faded Winky and a previously KO'd McEwan. Hopefully they'll get him a top 15 fighter for his October fight like Martin Murray, but I wouldn't be suprised if Haymon gets him a fight with Jermain Taylor soon after to build Pete's name recognition.
He was offered a title shot against Golovkin but they turned it down. There are rumors of a N'jikam fight.
Good, but overrated. There's a reason he didn't jump at a title fight and HBO exposure against Golovkin.
I like him. good tough kid with great technical ability for a late starter, the late ones are usually crude slugger tough guy types but this one has some natural talent about him, kinda like Nate Campbell. No future undisputed champ but proly will snatch a belt at some point and be a top 5 in the divison type guy.
