How good is RJJ at the moment? Is there a chance calzaghe makes him look silly?

But at the same time, styles make fights. Just because Calzaghe dominated Kessler doesn't necessarily mean he will do the same to RJJ. I understand that the odds are stacked against RJJ. But the guy's still got blazing hand speed when he decides to put it together and he's got the power and he's naturally bigger than Calzaghe. Those are factors that give him a really good punchers' chance.

    Stupidly biased article.

There is some definite truth in it here and there, but the clear hate for RJJ ruins the rest of it.

Sad but true ,Ruiz also has a win over Rahman ,nearly Ko ed Fat Freddie Oquendo ..Not Lennox Lewis but a big man with bear strength.

Thus the reason for all the hugs ..

Yea, I agree, the guy who wrote it clearly doesn't like Jones. There is some hate in there; some of it goes too far.

It's good to read an alternative opinion away from the usual Jones lovin though, imo. Parts of it are true.

It was a very honest assessment of Jones. He was the master ducker at his prime, and has not done much since ruiz, which was a great win.

Will he beat Calzaghe, that all depends on Joe. He is the better fighter right now, and barring any abuse from rjj overhand rights, he will dominate rjj. Rjj has never demonstrated the ability to adjust in fights. He either wins his way, or loses.

You think Calzaghe would have signed for this if Jones was BEYOND shot?
Jones is like 5% of what he once was, that's why this fight is on. Otherwise it would be Bika 2.

:patsch Jones fought every GREAT fighter close to him in his era. that meaning the guys that were close in age. Calzaghe was offered a fight with Jones in 1999 and turned it down. The only fighter that was in Jones weight class that can be said that he avoided was DM who wasnt keen on fighting Jones himself, while Jones never thought much of DM. All the other guys that it was claimed that Jones ducked was above his weightclass.

Some people underrate Roy Jones at this point. But unless he gets some cybernetic implants he simply can't win. I am one of those who thinks that Calzaghe is at his very best atm - overall.

The only way Hopkins could make it close, was to make the fight ugly, a prediction I had made before the match. It came true, but JC still won the match soundly.

Now, Roy is another guy than Hopkins. His former assets withers much more with age, than it does Hopkins.

The only foe for Calzaghe in this match is himself - as per usual. If he takes a fight seriously he fights very convicingly - if he wants to look good for the audience - he fights worse, and doesn't use his boxing mind very well. Still at this point, Calzaghe is way ahead of Roy in almost every area.

It will not be a complete blowout, but definately a fight, where Calzaghe will dominate most rounds.

That article was very biased. :-(

But Jones has no chance in beating Calzaghe. His last three opponents were not even contenders yet they all lasted the distance. The fact an old blown up light middleweight like Tito was able to land as many punches as he did is ample evidence of the decline of RJJ.

Those who think RJJ can use his speed an power to counter Calzaghe and stop him need to realise that Jones hasn't KO'd a fighter in almost 6 years! If he couldn't stop Hanshaw there is no way he can stop Calzaghe. And Jones simply does not have the workrate to out point Calzaghe anymore.

I am sure Jones will have his odd moments and look like his old self in very brief flashes but he has declined too much.
