[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvteZXWptCU[/ame] huge buzz around rhodes in his younger days. remember when he got outboxed by otis grant and being a bit surprised what with all the hype. he had to change after that disaster against matthews. :dead his defence wasn't good enough. done that well at a level. sadly i think alvarez deals with him fairly soundly.
I think Rhdes has a great chance to ne honest . I dont really get the hype with Alavarez he's a decent fighter and he's young but i'm not sure he's going to get much better > he seems slow a plodding and easy to hit to be honest . He had every advantage in his favour against Mat Hatton , while Hatton deserves all credit for going the distance , Alvarez didnt look like that big a puncher . Both Hatton and Cotto who dropped him too found him easy too hit . If Alvarez leaves himself that open against Rhodes then i think he'll get a bit of a shock . Rhodes has the esperience the skill the size and the power to spring an upset . Unless the Mexicans do a proper Frank ****** early flurry stoppage Rhodes has got the chance to ask some serious questions and depending on the answers win .
said it b4 say it again. Alvarez is being protected to sin. Hes already been dropped and hurt and had everything to his advantage against Hatton - I mean such a hot prospect shouldn't need such a massive weight advantage over a fighter with all due respect hasnt made it to euro level..... Against baldomir i thought alvarez looked a little one paced and ponderous so if RR can land something the fight could get interesting quickly... this has been the year of the upset so far even Botha won the othernight... who knows what might happen
He is a real class act, learned and mastered the business, when he was young he one the lonsdale belt in record time, now he is older he is a complete fighter, had a lot of inactivity though, so a big test against Alvarez, but he has the tools to do the job, he deserves the world title.
I dont know what he was doing at Middleweight for so long, always looked flabby at the weight to me, now he seems to have matured and improved on his defence.
I never really got why Ryan Rhodes is always so highly rated on this forum. It seems as if he's been permanently on the edge of breaking into world class, whilst really only being Euro level . He seems to be popular, likeable and good to watch, which I think has led him to be a bit overrated. I can't remember seeing his fight against Gary Lockett, can anybody remember what went wrong that night?
So im gathering Rhodes has more of a chance than even the bookies think then...they have Alvarez at 1/8..if Rhodes is a real threat then surely his only chance is to do a complete number and win every round clearly or by KO..otherwise it goes to the hometown fighter..
Am I the only one thinking this could go the way of Pascal Hopkins 2? Yes Rhodes is no Hopkins, but in my opinion Canelo is no Pascal either! I think experience will stand Rhodes in very good stead in this fight.
Thanks dude, might be worth a little punt at that price. Rhodes will no doubt be aware of the unliklehood of getting a points win so hopefully will go for broke.
I cant see Canelo staying at 154, win or lose. The Spice boy deserves a world title for sure, especially for coming back from the brink!
