I mean with the exception of De La Hoya, Vargas, and Margarito....(And Vargas or Margarito, I wouldn't necessarily say are elite, but they were pretty hot at the time he fought them) who else do you all consider his notable big wins...And remember that he was on steroids for the wins at 154 most notably odlh 2 and vargas....

Im assuming that he was on steroids during his whole run at 154...which honestly isn't impressive....

But who that is a top tier opponent did he beat minus the ones mentioned

Not that impressive, getting schooled by Winky twice and Vernon Forrest. Both guys had outstanding jabs.

Well personally i felt his run at 154 was dreadful, i had him losing the rematch against oscar, vargas was a shot fighter by the time Shane got to him, with both of them making somewhat of a comeback. I thought shane should have retired after landing about one meaningful punch in 2 fights against Winky wright.

At 147 tho, thats a whole 'nother matter.

The thing is you can't take away DLH, Vargas and Margarito and then ask how he fights at the top level.

That's like saying, aside from Bonin, Barrett and Valuev, who has Haye fought at heavyweight?

And at least Shane fought them. He did pretty good against Cotto and the second time around against Forrest. He also went up in weight and always gave a good account of himself.

I agree but im including 147 he lost both times to vernon forrest...who else at 147 did fight that was elite....cuz he lost to miguel cotto....

him beating oscar at 147 was huge but who else did he beat thats notable in that division too

Well the Vernon Forrest he met in their first fight was something else altogether, it would have taken a special fighter to beat him that night.

Also whats held shane back for too long was him sticking by his dad as his trainer, had he gone with somebody else after his first loss, i think he would be the man right now.

    This.

To actually hear Jack tell Shane to "use anything" even "elbows" against Wright in their first fight was ******ed.

His Dad took him to a level but couldn't progress him any further in my opinion.

Giving Oscar he's loss in one of the best WW fights ever and KOing the iron chin Margo is already enough. Floyd with all my respect for him never fought a fighter as good as Oscar in his prime

Take away Morales, Barrera and Cotto, Pacquiao really hasn't proved himself at elite level. I'm assuming he's been doping his entire career as well, naturally.

Jack Mosley didn't even have Shane spar 12 rounds in preparation for the Holiday fight. :patsch

He's probably also the reason that Mosley's jab has been neglected over the years.

Really? **** me I didn't know that. Mosley seems to have come good under Richardson so hopefully it will be a worthwhile move against Floyd.

I think it works both ways. Mosley may not have beaten a whole load of great fighters, but not many have beaten him at 147lbs. He never belonged at 154lbs, so those losses can be ignored. His resume is pretty good, though it would have been better, if he had the drawing power of De La Hoya or Trinidad.
