How good is Takashi Uchiyama? WBA Champ (18-0)15 ko's. Is he better than Gamboa?

    He is pretty good.

Not a paper titlist, but neither an ATG.

He is not better than Gamboa...but on a given night he might land something huge and knock Gamboa out.

If they met h2h ten times, Gamboa would take most but get KO'ed about twice.

Do me a favour. His best win is against a coked up Eloy Perez. He struggled against Ponce De Leon for christ sake. He needs to ask himself would God (to him Floyd Mayweather) struggle with the likes of Ponce De Leon? (And in Mayweather's weight class that's probably someone akin to Jan Zaveck) rather than just masturbating HARD and FURIOUSLY to pictures of Pretty Boy Floyd.

If that's the case you must also think Gamboa is a joke for not going to Indonesia to fight John? :think

He hits like a truck. Probably harder one punch KO power than Gamboa:

Uchiyama is top notch. Although i cant see him beating either, he would give very tough fight to both Gamboa and Broner. I think he is on nearly the same level as both. I think he beats everyone other then then the two in his weight class

Uchiyama would beat Gamboa whit a big counter punch. KO between rounds 5 - 8.

I'd take Uchiyama over both Broner and Gamboa. Uchiyama is more sound than both those guys and he hits like a truck. Broner would most likely underestimate Uchiyama and get KO'd. Gamboa is just a train wreck waiting to happen, I believe his defensive lapses would let him down against UA.

Exactly. I wonder if Takashi punching power is enough to keep Gamboa down for a 10 count. Gamboa can take a shot pretty well though and always seems to bounce right back up.

John fought Rocky Juarez in his backyard. Twice. He also fought Hiroyuki Enoki in Japan. Osamu Sato, too.

    Just saying.

As for the question, he's quite good. The best at 130 at this moment, and he may well have been the best even when Broner managed to keep his candy bar consumption down to a bare minimum.

Regarding a fight with Gamboa... It's conceivable that he catches Gamboa with something big on the way in and starches him. That said, Gamboa would likely have the speed advantage and T.U has been dropped before, so it's just as likely that the current 130lb kingpin gets KTFO. Either way, it's a match-up that I'd love to see, even if it probably wouldn't happen...

Uchiyama has previously stated that he would travel to fight Gamboa.

As for a fight between the two of them, I'd go with Gamboa to win.
