    :huh

What are you talking about? It isn't a matter of simply being "good enough yet", whatever that means.

He probably isn't ever going to be able to comfortably outpoint Gamboa over 12 rounds (unless it's a really bad hometown decision in Japan). It isn't a question of "yet" - he's never going to be outboxing the phenom giving up that much speed (and combined am/pro experience). His best chance to win is by KO, due to his huge power and Gamboa's ability to be hurt. That power -and the puncher's chance that comes with it - is the same now as it's ever going to be, so...not sure where you see he's going to work on anything to improve his chances. :think

It isn't like he's some 19 year old novice, a lump of unformed clay. He's already set in his style and about as "improved" as he's getting.

    Really, really weird comment..

Takashi is a serious threat to anyone.

Oh by the way, lest anyone take the wrong impression from my previous post having not seen any footage of him - it isn't like Takashi is some crude banger. He has solid fundamentals. I just don't see him realistically decisioning Gamboa. A stoppage, on the other hand, is on the table. Not an outcome I'd necessarily stick my neck out and lay money on, but it's on the table.

Thats what i would bet. Gamboa to win by either decision or stoppage or Takashi by Ko.

Anyone will solid power needs to take precaution. I think in the past Gamboa fought a little reckless trying to impress but after the couple of kds he has fought more alert. Also i think he will step up his game against better comp so the chances of Takashi beating Gamboa low imo.

You have to admit though, (we were both watching it :D), he had an ugly draw against Farenas.

He can't have that low a performance against Gamboa.

But powerwise, he can take Yuri out if he lands cleanly.

Gamboa is indeed more careful these days, but Uchiyama has fair accuracy and timing (if not speed) to go along with his big power. He is more dangerous overall than the guys against whom Yuri got in trouble early in his career.

I think Gamboa's knock down are more due to poor balance and technique than a dodgy chin.

Good stuff! But would Gamboa see TU as big risk-little reward? :think

I think Farenas was going to get knocked the **** out before the technical draw and Farenas was making it an ugly fight- something Gamboa won't be doing.

A bit harsh, but otherwise a good post.

Lomachenko would have outpointed Uchiyama relatively easily, but alas that won't ****ing happen now! GRRRRRRRRR

Watch some tape on Uchiyama and it's difficult to not see his skills.
