I felt exactly the same, he is a good trainer but I was wondering about this, too, especially in the last Sturm fight I saw a very bad game plan performed by them.
And I agree, badass Vitali would be great even without a trainer, he simply knows how to win a fight because he is a natural instinct fighter.:good

Still, like him or not, Fritz Sdunek must be considered one of the elite boxing coaches outta Europe.....

What about the late George Francis as a trainer???? He had many prospects who let him down come the moment of truth.... Francis obviously was a very frustrated man / trainer since close family members died of cancer and many of his fighters suffered brutal defeats over the years.... George would later hang himself in his garage back around 2003.... Jesus, Mary & Joseph....

To me, fritz has done a great job with these european fighters, he coached them well, i doubt the brothers would of had the same success in america under roach from the begining. He translated the easterneuropean amatures style into the pro style, no american trainer would of waisted his time. He made Univerium millions cause of it, an kept the brothers from being white hopes.....

Good list of fighters, but i wouldn't give any trainer too much credit for Vitali...he's more of an instinctive fighter, his assets are his size and toughness...

I have no idea who the trainer for Derek Chisora is, but I know Fritz Sdunek is fine with V.K.

Mediocre. His resume is deceiving as a lot of these boxers dumped him for better trainers.

Vitali would probably do well even without a trainer, that's how talented he is and how natural fighting is to him.

No, I'm not. You didn't ask that in the OP. Who's Chisora's trainer?

That said, Sdunek is competent but he ain't legendary or even particularly good. Just look at Wlad - once he got trained by a proper legend he improved virtually by 100%.
Sdunek might well be the best German trainer though, and he's certainly better than bum ass communist Ulli Wegner.

Right because the "old" Wlad was a safety first fighter that was afraid to let his hands go and just jabbed away at fighters for 6+ rounds before having the courage to start throwing his right hand with conviction.

When Wlad was with Fritz, he was an offensive powerhouse. I never saw a fight where Fritz had to beg and plead with Wladimir to throw punches and end the fight.

Steward certainly improved his defense, footwork and so forth, but it came at the cost of his offense, which is what excites a lot of boxing fans.

Sdunek didn't ruin Wlad, he took him to being WBO champ and reigned with that belt for several fights until Wlad himself screwed up and underestimated Sanders and didn't stay focused.

Sdunek is certainly a solid trainer, though I know he's going to hang it up soon, possibly when Vitali retires.
