when vic is boxing his shots are timed & land harder, agbeko was wobbled a couple of times in there, it will be intresting to see where he goes from here.
For all it's worth, as I said pre-fight, Vic's predictability is his biggest enemy & he doesn't settle well to a plan "B", which gives the opponents a huge advantage if they have tough whiskers. I havent seen the fight but the way he lifts his left elbow & holds his right out, there is plenty of space to rack up the points, I would suspect that's what happened. Vic's had so much success with his power & killer instinct at the lighter weights, Bantam may be a bridge too far for the resilience of the bigger kids. He's still a ledge but.
Funny thing is, 2 of the 3 judges had Agbeko by a point. Now, presuming they gave the last round to Agbeko (as they should have), if Vic had got up and done enough to win the last he would have been a majority decision winner. Correct decision in the end, Vic to me was a few points off the win and just couldn't quite settle. Am still looking for his right uppercut which was awol all day. Another thing to consider. Even in defeat, after everyone I spoke to agreed he lost on points, everyone still holds him in a much regard than messrs Dib & Mundine. Food for thought. Won't be a huge loss for him to come back from and will still be following him in the future. PS Got to meet hmmm today at my local, will say he has the end of year award for 'least likely to look like a Swiss Banker' sewn up. Was good to meet him and because hes a solid ******* will not even suggest he was casting stray looks in my direction at my you know what. But I'm sure he was.
He just couldn't work Agbeko out. I thought Agbeko won quite easily, and although Vic didn't seem to have the right gameplan, he did get a few good shots in, and they didn't seem to have the effect that they normally do. I think he should step back down a weight class.
You're a sick man Leon. I may be heading over to Perth for a weekend in August. Will have to shove some socks down my dacks just to keep up by the sounds of it. Will catch up for a drink if I do end up going. Will send out an invite to shiner and leftjabdanny too.
yep was busy today so couldn't get to the greenwood. just watched it though and quite simply that's what happens when you under estimate your opponent. he's done it twice now for two loses!
I think Vic isn't the type of fighter who can afford to even be slightly off his game when he's up against guys like Agbeko. Unlike Floyd, and other multi division champs Vic needs to be on his game and not get complacent, otherwise he can be worked out without much difficulty. I think we'll see more of these types of losses from Vic. Perhaps it isn't a lack of gameplan, etc, maybe he's just there to be worked out by some.
Vic landed his best shots on Agbeko & he took them. Vic has to go back down to 115 where his power is effective. Scrappy sort of a fight but I had the African winning. I thought Vic's effort was disappointing but Agbeko controlled him well especially with his footwork, better placement that kept Vic out of range most of the fight.
Agbeko had very good head movement through all rounds....hard to keep up for 12 rounds. Vic fought without his head today....he knows it...he mentioned his plan was wrong....he will be back down in weight defending his titles in 4 months.
Can't believe 2 judges had king king only 1pt winner............. Vic was well beaten by 3 or 4 points in my opinion.
