Valuev was 46-0, and it was one of the wins that led to the showdown with Wladimir Klitschko (since the brothers would not fight each other) to finally establish a Lineal Heavyweight Champion, so I would say it was a good and very important win.
Valuev’s body was a tomb, wonder if he was healthy at the time, moved like a tomb too he was very limited but humongous and incredibly durable. He’s sort of proof that size matters way way more then we give it credit, he basically only had size and got very far for his skill level - Moore was roughly 75x the boxer and I’d still tune in unsure of who would win, Valuev’s jab would feel like walking into a tree, not a lot happening when you throw a jab just that stiff sewer pipe arm and 300+lbs of man.
My thoughts as well. While Valuev was not seen as a great fighter and had noticeable limitations he was an unbeaten belt holder with intimidating size. And like you said, it was a match that led to deciding lineage down the road with Klitschko
Not great but good. A lot of people felt Valuev had already lost fights to Donald and Ruiz. I don't disrespect the guy at all, because he was clearly trying in there, and he has some good wins, but like Carnera, there was an element of the invented in his career.
I liked this fight a lot. Chagaev did some weird work too in the build up, he had these huge projectors throwing up Valuev's true size around the gym so he could get used to the idea, and they developed a perfect gameplan then executed it with precision.
