the guy has alot of haters

but he was really ****ing good.

Marciano vs Holyfield at 190 could very well have been one of the best fights ever.

    IMO Marciano takes it.

im not a hater I just dont see whats great about his skills.. boxing is more than just power or speed its about your mentality in the ring.. and it seems to me just uses his power and his stalking style.. he has to hes a small man.. did he even fight any opponents that were significantly larger AND VERY SKILLED than him?

This is the same old tired debate. How good was this guy...if he were around today who could he beat? My opinion has always been that you cannot judge fighters of different eras with anybody else. You can only compare him with the pugilists of his own time. Which is why, in my opinion, Joe Louis was the best Heavyweight of all time. He had the most title defenses and he was consistent. No, his era was not a great era. But he dominated it like few heavyweights have. Marciano? He's be a small Cruiserweight nowadays. But when he was a round (in a comparatively weak era) he dominated. There's reallly nothing disparaging you can say about a fighter who retired undefeated and possessed on of the highest ko percentages.

yes all the time and it was his mental toughness is what pulled him though. he had power heart. and tenacity. he hit the whole body and every hit count. he would hit your arms if you blocked so that latter on in the fight the opponet could, hold his arms up toblock not to mention it made it harder to throw effective punches

no marciano started his carreer rather lateat 26 and those figter weren't that old. lastarza came around at the wrong time even held marciano to a close decision in the first fight. marciano fought almost every top contender in his era. and beat them. like rex lane beat a young up and comer that was 6'4 in carmine vingo and knocked him into a comma. alot of fighter that fought him stated how they would of lost to him no matter what age they fought at. ali who sparred a few actual real rounds withan old marciano . alredy in his mid 40's for the computer fight stated how hard he hit thing efven got a little heated and marciano welted up his entire body although it was an inactive ali it was still an old marciano and ali stated how akward his style was.

Cus D' Amoto was so much impressed with his akward crouch style he had tyson study hours of tapes to get it down . his defence was not as bad as people try to say. and he wasn't as slow. in fact Cus perpously kept floyd a LGHT HW to wait for marciano's to retire
