The Best thing about Audley was the sheer number of nicknames he was given! Must have been in the tens I think.
On a scale of one to ten, some posters on here would have definitely give him one. :rofl Every time he opened his mouth, they were up his arse! YES YOU CAN AUDLEY! BELIEVE THE HYPE! WATCH! WATCH! So Audley how did the fight go? Pretty bad. I injured my arsehole in training and the doctor told me to not take the fight, but I came, I showed up and I can still be the world champ. Credit to Danny Williams he brought his A-game but I couldn't bring my A-force tonight. But I gotta look on the bright side of life, nah mean? Strictly come dancing want me back init!
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AWaASQyg9U"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AWaASQyg9U[/ame] a stunning perfromance but against a horrifically underpreapared williams and shouldnt have to been the rematch. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtsH7tG62Q0"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtsH7tG62Q0[/ame] he just hasnt iimproved since his days as an amatuer. when guys go for him and ignore his skills he just falls apart.
Thats all he ever was, was an amateur fighter. He tried to fight an amateur game in the pro ranks, because thats all he knew was successful, it's what won him gold medals. He was built for that game and could have been in the pro ranks had he had a brain between his ears. He was the right size and he had everything going for him if he had the right mentality with it. But he never did and got found out time and time again. I know the hype train is starting for Anthony Joshua, but I can smell the same thing happening again. He looked awful in the Olympics and because of VERY generous judging he got a by in most fights. But he lost 1, maybe even the final as well. I fear for him in the pro ranks, he could end up Harrison numero 2.
terrible. he won the european title. but i'm still baffled as to why the ebu sanctioned that. well i'm not cos it was a payday. atsch he's achieved f*ck all. :bart
Audley has grown on me as despite some bitches whining about their fifteen quid, he's been good for a lot more banter than most fighters. I like the way he keeps getting back in the mix even though every fight for 5 years has been the fabled "last chance saloon'. I'd support some of the other comments above, he doesn't have the heart of a 'fighter' and struggles with the concept of getting hit. If you ask me - and I'm aware nobody has - Audley is unfortunately an example of someone who is 'self-taught' (aka 'thick as **** at school') who has been poleaxed into reading lots of "leadership and self-help" style books. He thinks he is an expert of sport psychology, and in a supreme example of 'a little bit of knowledge being a dangerous thing' it has ****ed him up. How many years after poor performances did we hear the guy chuntering on about "this variable nearly clicking with the other variables" and how "I was getting close" and how he "has all the tools" and more latterly has "paid the price". What no trainer has ever been able to do - or been allowed to do - is to take Audley, slap him (kindly) in his big old face and say "Audley, take your variables and cram them up your bottom! You are a big, black 6'6 heavweight fighter! Run out there and punch the other guys head off!" In short, too many people have paid homage to his GCSE standard thoughts and witterings on 'elite performance' and 'sports psychology'... the sum of which has been, well, a fairly average career punctuated by some extreme poor performances. I hope he wins tonight. In fact, I hope he wins a world title. So I say to Audley directly "GO OUT THERE AND PUNCH THE OHER GUY IN THE ****ING HEAD UNTIL THE FIGHT IS STOPPED! DO NOT, REPEAT DO NOT, WORRY ABOUT ****ING 'VARIABLES" AND "PAYING THE PRICE"! **** THE PRICE. USE YOUR MASSIVE BODY TO THROW HARD PUNCHES AT YOUR OPPONENTS ****ING HEAD!" There.
but he's never earned that right. he's always got fights cos of his name. just like he's getting this fight tonight. he hasn't earned this shot. :bart
