Exactly. He certainly was elite. He was just unfortunate he came on the world scene just as Calzaghe was retiring, and at the same time as Andre Ward. Calzaghe and Ward are the top two greatest ever at 168. Almost any other Super middleweight era and Froch wouldve been the dominant number 1. Like for example the super middleweights now and in recent years, Froch would beat them all.

Froch was a cracking fighter. Hard as they come. I remember the late Brendan Ingle saying that you’ll have to nail Froch to the canvas to keep him down. How right he was. I was watching a re run of Froch Groves 1 recently. Carls inner desire and will is unquestionable. You don’t need too many nights like that, regardless of result.
Deserves his spot in the hall of fame.

Froch was an overachiever and should go down in British boxing history as one of the best from these shores. He didn’t duck a challenge and gave his everything in fights, entertaining with a warrior mindset.

Also worth noting for all the people who pick Calzaghe to beat Froch (i personally also pick Calzaghe to decsion Froch if it happened) only one of them wanted that fight and it wasnt Joe.

The taylor fight was incredible, remember watching it the following day,it wasn't shown live, and the finish was insane
Definitely worth a watch for the last round alone
Froch can be a bit up himself at times, but he's earned the right to be,and also sometimes it seems tongue in cheek

Great fighter, simple as. By his resume alone. Not P4P but i wouldnt argue if somebody said top 5/6 UK.

Froch would have a massive reach advantage over Canelo. Hit hard enough to keep him honest and could keep him cautious and out of range of being countered.
He beat a less dynamic fighter in AA in similar fashion to how Bivol beat Canelo. Combinations work rate and staying out the way of big punches.
Canelo is much more fluid than Carl, a better counter puncher etc.....but he's giving away size, reach against a good boxer with good power and a great engine and chin. If Carl is able to make Alvarez sit on the ropes hoping for a breather ala Bivol it's not beyond the realms of a Cobra win.
A Froch win is entirely possible - GGG jab should have won him the first 2 fights - Froch could do something similar.

Canelo has been outboxed by Bivol, should have lost at least once but probably twice to GGG and has been the distance with the likes of Hatton and Rhodes. He's a brilliant fighter but he has some weaknesses and Froch matches up to them well.
