How good was Dominic Guinn thought to be from the amateurs until he finished his prime? I didn't get to see him fight live in his prime, when I saw him fight for the first time it was against Chambers and he was already a gatekeeper, then seeing all his fights I never fully understood why he was overrated, what do you think?
He was definitely, briefly, touted as a potential hot prospect. But I think quite quickly he settled into fringe contender \ gatekeeper territory.
He was a Very Good Basic Boxer, with a lot of hope, but he either didn't deliver or was perhaps just a flash in the pan hope. But a good fighter all the same. I was rooting for him too, just like Donovan Ruddick and Ike the 'Pres'. Oh well, on that note, I was always impressed by Jeremy Williams, an excellent Boxer.
I remember when he knocked off Michael Grant and he looked like he was going to be the next big contender on the heavyweight scene but then he started losing every fight by decision. He had a really strange career where he lost 13 fights but none of them by KO. All of them were decision and it looked like he simply resigned himself to being just an opponent. He definitely seemed to lack a killer instinct and just was looking to survive.
