Underrated,decent power,awkward southpaw with an iron chin,was a smoker and drinker so may have been even better if he lived a cleaner life,he put a prime Ricky Hatton on his arse and lost a close fight so he was world class and destroyed John Thaxton,he just fought in a era when there were a lot of good light welterweights,Hatton,Gatti,Ward,Tsyzu,Judah,Witter,Harris,Corley
Magge was on the fringes being world class IMO. He was a southpaw and had a slick counter punching style. Maggee would draw his opponent on then smash him. He wasn't the biggest of punchers, but he could bang a bit as he proved against Hatton. Magge gave Hatton one of his toughest fights and who knows what would have happened if he actually trained for that fight and layed off the booze and ***s. Maggee was also a big Celtic fan and he had a good support behind him when he fought Kevin Anderson in Motherwell.
I was at that Motherwell fight too - I actually got distracted for a split second when Anderson floored him. Would you believe that was back in 2007. It was Magee's last fight. Anderson had three more fights - until he was advised not to???? How is Kevin's health these days? Didn't he try to sue the BBBofC???
