I think the reason they rushed Reid was because of his droopy eyelid.

I disagree with you though i think Reid was a very dangerous opponent and although inexperienced was still naturally talented enough to easily beat a solid guys Laurent Boudani,Keith Mullings. I think Reid had great speed and a dangerous punch. His power was much better than his Ko record indicated.

He was a bit like Julian Jackson or Nigel Benn - a good but limited fighter who happened to have elite KO power, which elevated him from the contender level his skills warranted, to a champion because of his ability to brutally knock out good opponents.

These types of fighters, once they come up against a skilled champion boxer with a solid chin, tend to get exposed pretty badly. They are basically elite at knocking contenders and journeymen out, but can't really hack it against the best of the best. Exciting to watch, but not ATGs.

I disagree he was much better all around fighter than Benn or Jackson, and im known as someone to not overrate Tito. Tito was more fluid than Jackson more patient and had better boxing skills than both guys. I just dont see how you can rate these guys equally. Jackson had better one pundh power than Tito but thats it. Benn had a little more speed but all around was not near as good as Trinidad.

Tito is an atg imo. Jackson close but id lean towards very good. Benn just a very good fighter no way a great.

Part of it yes. He had several operations on it, and it was never fully repaired.
Reid did have speed, but he boxed on his toes and his power was not as great as you think, and that was his downfall against Tito, because Tito just battered him around the ring and Reid couldnt hurt him or keep him off. He was a good solid fighter with a lot of speed, but again, he really wasnt experienced enough to face Trinidad. He had 14 fights! It takes time for these boxer types to learn how to sit down on their punches and deliver some power. The amatuers is all about scoring points. I think Dirrell and Ward are good examples of what Im talking about as they seem to improve fight by fight, and you saw Dirrell struggling a little bit with the power and pressure of Froch, and then he did really well against Abraham. Experience is important.

I think Tito was a great Welterweight with some technical flaws but his positive attributes outweighed the flaws. As he moved up in weight his lack of maneuverability and slow feet became more pronounced and his inabillity to overpower these larger men became a problem. Tito needed to reset to punch, morseo at JM, and even moreso at MW, he was a little lighter on his feet at Welter. Great but flawed Wleterweight. Very good JM. Good middleweight.
