outstanding ko record This content is protected + This content is protected + This content is protected = 45 rounds boxed 170 KO% 84.44 but it seems everytime he stepped up in level he got knocked out. what was his best win?
I was watching him against Lennox on ESPN Classic just the other night, put up a great fight but got caught and couldn't recover.
I watched a documentary on him the other day, seems like a great bloke, it's a shame he's had the problems he had. Anyone know how he's doing these days?
He was a gatdamn hulk. A sparring partner for him and Shavers said they were in the same league in punching power, I saw once, if I recall correctly.
Best win was McCall but also beat the likes of Tillis, Williams and Coetzer, sometimes in devastating fashion. Very talented but froze when hurt, not a good idea against the likes of Tyson, Lewis and Witherspoon. Was unlucky in his first defeat against Smith, was coasting but got sloppy in the last round. Frank was a household name when i was growing up. He was considered abit of a joke figure by some, people seemed to take the **** out of him a bit but he was very famous. Most people wanted him to beat Lewis, another galant defeat. Lost the plot a few years back, after coke abuse i heard, seemed to pick up but i dont know what he's doing now.
Good man. Poor stamina. Like Wlad he can't keep his composure after getting hit hard, easy to KO once you hurt him a bit. Was able to give Lewis a lot of trouble with his jab until tko7.
He was asked at an after dinner speech why he didnt finish Tyson off in the first fight and his answer was that he was absolutely petrified of opening up on him, Tyson scared the **** out of him.Refreshingly honest. You can see in both fights how scared Frank was. Think he got through the first round of the first one on blind panic.
Coetzee was an excellent win. I don't think his chin was as bad as commonly made out. He took some heavy punches before the finishing flurry against Spoon and in both Tyson fights. His knockout defeats had as much to do with stamina, his upright tense style, and also his lack of survival instincts. Mentally he could be vulnerable, as shown in the Tyson fights. Against Lewis he was fully switched on and firmly believed he would win, which resulted in arguably a career-best performance up until the stoppage.
Hes got balls for fighting Tyson with a detached retna, he could have easily got out the fight, instead he covered up his eye damage.
