I think we all know the answer to that.

So come on, who was it who said his opposition was over-rated?

Well all we need to do is look at the list of the fighters you've mentioned then we have the answer. Very few if any have fought as many great fighters and contenders as greb

Nobody on this forum, that I know of anyway. Im posting this thread on different sites just to get a feel how many people might actually have the same train of thought as this guy. Its ludicrous, we all know the answer as you've said, but he believes it and keeps making ridiculous arguments. I should just let it go but Im curious.

I rate robinson a little higher but i think greb's resume is superior. Charles and espicially Langford can hold a candle to greb as well in that department i fell

The most VITAl piece of Harry Greb's amazing record is OVERLOOKED...He beat men like Gene Tunney, Tommy Gibbons, Tommy Loughran, Jack Dillon
Gunboat Smith, Battling Levinsky ,Kid Norfolk,Bill Brennan, Billy Miske etc while being OUTWEIGHED 15 to 50 pounds, time and again...Why is this vital point always overlooked? Today a fighter quibbles about a pound or two but the amazing Greb tackled anyone, and everyone in THREE HUNDRED fights, and dodged no one regardless of SIZE and COLOR...
Honestly folks, which fighter in history can equal that ? Remember he was usually outweighed by 15-50 lbs in his victories...
And one other thing ,Harry Greb Fought the last 5 years of his astounding career with ONE EYE !!! We can never see his likes again....

I agree 100% and have mentioned all of this. The response I get is "how good could his comp have been if they were losing to a smaller man with only one good eye. Its very annoying.

I'm sure he fought all the best of his time, but any of the limited available film i've seen from fighters that far back seem to be fighting in a completely different sport. Technically, they look like ****, to be blunt. That is my opinion.

So although there is no footage whatsoever of him and nobody here ever saw him in person, i can concede he has a great record, that much at least is not folklore. But boxing has progressed like everything else in life does, its scientific law. And it is clearly visible to see.

*So gene tunney looks **** on film does he ?, the same tunney ali said was one of the best boxers he had seen from back then, in terms of movement and style, i think not mate. And greb in his win was said to have nearly killed him, was he not carried out pissing blood and had to stay in bed for weeks after ?, come on guy greb was something not of this world haha, such a pity there is not one damn fight of him somewhere, as im sure it could sway people such as yourself who question him
