Who are you assuming is my favourite fighter? You're taking it too personal, i look at the film, they look crude, less skilled, they awkwardly hop around with their arms out like theyre feinting bicep curls. Then they wrestle and throw punches in poor form. It does not look like boxing at all. You get so defensive of their legacy, fair enough, their times were tougher, they fought the best of their time, they were great for their time. But they would not hang with boxers of the modern era. Not a ****ing chance. Compared to a Marvin Hagler, a Tommy Hearns, they look like complete ****. Its fine to celebrate these guys you're intrigued by, but they would get smashed in the modern era. There is no footage of Greb, you've never seen him fight, yet he beats everybody, his record is so great, but it isn't, because the guys he was fighting were primitive. These videos get posted up, being on the classic you expect people to be of the same gay little secret nostalgic mind-**** club in the classic..the obscure is cool, clinching is an art form, if i say the same **** 5 times over only wording it different with some 6 syllable bad boys thrown in there and make it look articulated it holds more weight than a straight to the point fact... Like the fact that these guys didnt box, they wrestle-punched with poor form, like mma only upright. And you guys get so defensive. You try to pull positives from the footage, then someone comes along thats not in the gay little club and doesnt understand what the **** is going on in the forum and points out they look like ****. And then the positives arent there anymore:huh...the tune has to changed to 'the footage is poor' and thats why they look like absolute ****. Well i'm sorry but don't bite my head off for not being able to contemplate a massive leap from looking like complete **** to being the greatest fighters of all time that whoop anyone from our ***** little era, where grown men wax their chests and dont drink salmonella.
he's still not accepting or admitting that the film footage is **** and causing the biggest part of his confusion!
Let Pachilles see a PRIMITIVE fighter in real time ..Let him check Mickey walkers Ko of Tommy Milligan in London in 1927, just two years after a weight drained primitive,Harry Greb thrashed the Toy Bulldog in1925 with ONE EYE...CHECK it out.... What would he say if the only film he saw of Ray Robinson was Tiger Jones giving robinson a 10 round drubbing.. What does he conclude from 100s of boxing experts who saw Greb, in the 1920s,saw the 1930s, saw the 1940s, into the 1970s,and beyond...Would not they notice how primitive Greb and his era was and how each generation was better, then the previous era...Were they blind and stupid not to have noticed how clumsy and unskilled, the era of Greb, Walker, Flowers,Delaney, Tunney, Gibbons,Loughran were ? Of course not...All these experts who saw all of these boxing eras unfold before their eyes, picked the Pittsburgh Windmill as the greatest, the had seen, because he did deeds that no other 160pounder did...He whipped great HOfamers, who outweighed him by 15 to 50 pounds time after time, in a 300 bout career...Tell me what modern middleweight would even attempt this challenge and succeed ? Answer NONE...Even the great Ray Robinson knew his limitations...Summary--- I will take the opinions of dozens of expert boxing writersv who saw Harry Greb and his successors, over the opinion of someone who never saw Greb, or his era, and whose apparent mission is to deflate our boxing ancestors deeds...
Everyone looks like a tomato can back then!?!?!??? Are you sure you are from Planet Earth Panchilles? Have you ever seen footage of Gene Tunney, Tommy Loughran or Mickey Walker just to name a few??? You are always so devoted to tearing Greb down with your only arguement being "There is no fight footage of Greb". Give it a rest there, smart guy. atsch
Observe the "primitive" Gene Tunney in action: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-9gW3lJmVM&feature=fvw[/ame]
They were lucky that prototype "Joe Louis era" cameras were there to film their key fights. If the only film that we had of Gene Tunney was the Carpintier fight then we would not fully apreciate him.

Pachilles, I'm sorry, but they all look terrible doesn't cut it. I think Tunney looks great, but I don't have to really on my ignorant opinion - Ali agrees with me. What do you say?
Didn't Dempsey say that Greb was faster than Benny Leonard and Jack Johnson say Greb was the fastest fighter he ever saw. We have film of Leonard and he looks fast and Greb was a middleweight. There are all sorts of things I know to be true even though I never saw them happen. If I go to bed at night and there wasn't snow on the ground, but there is when I wake up, I feel pretty comfortable believing that it snowed during the night even though I didn't see it snow.
