Fastest fighter I ever saw. Blazing hands. He should have left a bigger mark than he did but was such a complete headcase. He had the mental and emotional level of about an eight year old, from everything I've seen and read about him. He looked great against the type that moved in and wanted to punch, as most quick boxers do, but in his prime he never really fought a truly accomplished boxer-puncher until he fought Rosario, and most thought he lost that fight. I do agree as most do that he was never the same in terms of confidence after getting rocked twice the way he was in that fight.

All that said, he had guts. He went the distance against Chavez, Trinidad, and De La Hoya in their primes, and that says something. He did little in any of those fights but survive, but he did that.

Thanks for that so he just had all the talent but didn't quite make it work

Well it's all relative; I mean he did win two world titles, but was carefully matched until Rosario and was never really the same after that. Some here will dispute that, but I believe it.

Guy was a head case and a clown, but a fair fighter in his prime, i loved the first Haugen fight, and i thought Greg was ripped off in the rematch...

Does anyone know if the guy or guy's that whacked him went to Prison???

His hand speed in the early days really was astonishing. In his fight with Louie Loy he threw punches you could barely see.

Hector was definitely special, very fast hands, though I think Howard Davis jr prime may have been a bit faster. As a 130 pounder, was the man, but got caught up in the life, and suffered for it.Should be alive today.

Obviously his Career standing was diluted by his escapades and results at Lightweight and Above... But if Looked at purely on Talent as a Jr Lightweight.. Then i think you could say he was a True 130lb Standout... Great at 130lb..? on a who could beat Who Basis.. i would say yes... He was certainly one of the All Time Great Charectors of the Game... He will not be Forgotton

Agree on both accounts. At his best he had everything besides a huge punch. He said he'd never been hit with what Rosario caught him with before or after and it did mark when he stopped being an attacking fighter. Rosario's punch at its best may have equaled even Duran's.

I don't think Duran could claim to hit as hard as Rosario. He threw superb combos and could certainly whack, but Duran's one-punch power wasn't what Rosario's was.
