Good technique, speed, stamina, brutal power, I recall most saying the same thing about Sam Peter before the Klitschkos beat him brain dead.
His wins over prime Tua and prime Byrd are nice to look at but to be honest I don't consider Byrd or Tue to be particularly good (Tua's VASTYL!!! overrated) but beating him at his own game was impressive, no doubt. He probably could have gained a belt Ruiz/Byrd/Peter-style between 2003 und 2005 when Lewis and Vitali retired and Wlad got his ass kicked every time he stepped in the ring with a puncher. B or B+ level heavy I reckon.
If Tua is overrated then prove yourself being 5'9''? at HW with guys who are mostly 6'3''+ noob. Btw. Hopkins is overrated and boring racist.
Except who had Peter beaten that was at the level of the Tua and Byrd that Ike beat? But I see your motive, and it's pathetic. There's enough Klitschko threads for you to give your useless opinion on.
In some ways he reminded me of tyson physically but Ike really has no fear and great all around fighter. As if his power was not enough he had great chin and stamina. He beat tua at his best but it could of gone either way and top 10 hw fight imo. Ikes output was enough to upset I think even lewis, holy, or vitaly, but as physically gifted as he was not the smrtest and gets beat in rematch. Ike fought his best when using pressure something rarely seen at hw. Povekin a decent pressure fighter but he was getting beat by chambers.
I thought Ike was going to be the next big thing. But fact is we will never know. He did have 2 real good wins, but guys with his style usually burn out quick. He could have been great, or just average. Either way he was a real fruitcake.
1. I'm 6' 2. It's not my job to prove anything in the ring. A boxer exposes himself to critics and must swallow whatever is thrown at him without shouting "prove me you can do better!" because he is paid for boxing whereas I'm not being paid for criticising. 3. We're not talking pound for pound or inch for inch. Tua's 5'9", he's done very well despite being a small heavy but he gets defeated by every single A level heavy because Tua is not a great boxer. Tbh I have a hard time considering him a "good" boxer. Ike appears to be better which doesn't say much. bubububu *you insulted my favorite fighter now Ima trash your favorite boxer and call for my mum afterwards!!*:| Well you know, it's, like, my opinion, man.
Ike was very good. Him and David Tua put on a good show for the heavyweight division, they're the type to bring the people back to heavyweight Boxing 'cos lately its been boring as hell.
Exactly. Nice to see someone else recognizes how absurdly overrated Ibeabuchi is by some boxing fans.
Ike was special. I imagine had he carried on and gained a belt or two he might have attracted the attention of a new trainer. Someone like an Angelo Dundee, or Roger Mayweather. For the Tua fight Ibeabuchi was a diamond in the rough. He had a strong jab, and good foot movement, and I've seen him box, and he does it well. Watch how he effectively cut off the ring on Byrd, one of the best ring technicians at the time. Ike could throw every punch well, and with bad intention. And he could do that all night. Had he a different trainer to add head movement, shoulder roll, and distance to his game, he'd have been unstoppable. He'd have beaten both current champions, plus Hayes, and reigned for many years. But that's just my opinion.
