You're an idiot. Disrespectful post anyway, but Peter never had good technique or speed. Stamina and brutal power maybe but he wasn't even on the same planet as Ike.
How many victories has WALDO got against live bodies? Why don't you list WALDO's best wins? Bet Byrd is in the top 5 - and WALDO didn't do anywhere near as good a job on Byrd as Ike did. Thanks for your input though, as usual :nut Also had WALDO been in the ring with the Tua that Ike fought, he'd have been stretched, several times with that glass jaw of his. Lewis and VITLAY may have been different but I could see Ike beating VITLAY, and on some occasions even Lewis, he was that good.
yeah people tend to forget what Tua was at that particular time, he was pretty much looked at as another Tyson on the way up and imho would have KTFO anyone in the division except Ike. Lewis was a great fighter but I don't think he could have avoided that version of Tua's bombs all night long and Vitali was still building his record in Germany.
There's no doubt in my mind if he wouldn't have been so stupid, he would have caused some serious trouble for Lewis and Vitali. Not to say he would have beaten both but neither would look good fighting him. He was a good fighter but hey he did what he did.
different eras, plus ike didn't really get the chance. pretty sure ike would of obliterated the brittle faded maskaev to take that title. what we saw out of ike was a much more complete fighter than peter IMO. peter of the past five years or so hasn't looked all that impresive, plodding but with good power. ike never got old, but the guy had good power plus threw combos, quickness etc. peter is very limited and as thick as he's been for a long while, not even that scary physically. ike was a 6'2 monster. but agreed we only got a snapshot and it's easy to overate a bit
His beating Tua in a toe to toe battle, and his slaying of Byrd was the stuff of legend. The President was a beast, no question. Not sure how he'd fair against someone like Lewis, Wlad, Tyson, Vitali, Holy, but it'd sure be interesting............. Ike had crushing power and was a very aggressive fighter who could deliver the goods.
Fair enough, but that's why I think he's so over rated. Simply because he never lost. They quickly forget that he only fought 2 decent fighters, Byrd & Tua. David Tua is easy to outbox if you have good defense. The Byrd win was a good one though. He did show he could beat a defensive boxer albeit one without power of his own. The best description of Ike would be potential but a big question mark. Any skilled Heavyweight with good power, speed & a proper jab would have a serious shot at beating him IMO. That would include Bowe, prime Tyson, Lewis & both Klitschkos. If we had seen Ike against the likes of Mercer, Morrison, Ruddock, etc. we could make a better informed evaluation. It's quite possible that Ike could've beaten them all but it's just as possible that he could've lost to all of them too.
Good post, except i don't see Ike beating Lewis, because they were Peak at the same time, & Lewis is truly great.
There is no "would have been". Ike WAS miles ahead of fat slob Peters, and there is really no comparison except from the UFC fans above who know nothing about boxing. atsch
LOL, Why do you post of this site? You obviously know very little about boxing. You don't need good defense to win against Tua. That's exactly what Ike proved in his win. Did you even watch the fight? Doesn't matter. Anyone who equates Tua with Iabucchi has shown they are boxing inapts. :yep
He would have murdered Lennox. And anyone else really in that division. He was bat**** crazy, he had an unbreakable chin (took prime tua left hooks to the chin like it wasnt ****), and a murderous right hand. He was so crazy that before fights people saw him talking to himself. He was so crazy that he tried to kill himself by driving into a wall. He came out completely unscathed, but paralyzed a little kid. He deserves to be in jail and suffer the rest of his life. But there is no doubt that this guy was a machine. Lennox and Emmanuel avoided this guy like the plague.
**** off. Of course I watched Ike vs. Tua multiple times..............Ike stood & traded punches with Tua which is very exciting but not very smart & probably contributed to his lack of future accomplishments. Vitali could probably afford to stand & trade punches with Tua but not every fighter has that kind of chin. Do you think Lewis would've beaten Tua if he didn't employ a good defense? That's right, you done been owned......................
The fact wasnt that he beat tua. The fact was he stood there and traded shots the full 12 rounds. You do not do that against Tua, go and ask Lennox. This is a tremendous credit to his chin. Speaking of Lennox, it is fact that Emmanuel and Lennox purposely avoided this guy. These 2 facts alone completly destroy your 'overrated' argument. Crazy mother****ers excel at this sport. And I am not talking tyson crazy, I am talking manson crazy. I cannot honestly think of anyone more bat**** crazy than Ike.
