    Could he beat Khan, though?

Do you not think khan would collapse after a wee jab?

He's a top ten uk great, and a boxing hall of famer. I think that answers your question :good

A lot of people argue Buchanan is top 5.

Iv'e watched the fight at least 5 times and while Duran was winning the fight, all the rounds were hard fought and close. Before the nut shot Buchanan was actually coming on stronger, he won the 13th round. The nut shot was sheer frustration at Buchanans resilience. Buchanan landed a shot after the bell, so Duran smashed him in the nuts

The rematch wasn't offered by Duran's team. This is in Buchanan's bio 'The tartan legend', and was also admitted by Duran's old manager not long ago. I cant remember the exact quote but i remember reading 'formidable foe' and 'too high risk'.

Duran would have won the rematch anyway, he was just too much for Buchanan to handle, if Buchanan had more power it might have been different tho.

    All-time great without question.

I think Ken Buchanan is as great a Floyd Mayweather. Skills wise and career. He was the lightweight champion for two years until meeting you know who. Stood up to 13 rounds of pure beating, lost the title then went on a 13 fight winning streak.

No Duran to face, I think he out points DeJesus and rules that division for as long as Duran did. Not as impressive but impressivesly no doubt.

I second that one, good as Amir was and is.Dont think Ken would have been chinned by Diaz or outfought by Peterson, would have been too good for both.I can't remember him being on the floor even.Saw him have one off night, against a Spaniard in Spain.Lost but would have won 19 out of 20.For me nobody in Britain comes close.Beating Laguna twice says it all,but Duran was a bridge too far.

Never been KO'ed and you saw the shots he took for Bobby Duran and keep on dancing. That is one heck of a beard. Duran on that night beats Benny Leonard.

Sorry, didn't really take this post in when I posted ATG comment.Have always wondered how Buchanans career would have gone if he hadn't run into Duran.Could have seen him make a lot more money, possibly life changing.Fate.

Duran was so scared to rematch Ken that he'd rather fight Leonard, Hagler, and Hearns. That should tell you a lot.

Only the classic posters understand how good Buchanan is. I find him to be overlooked a lot on the Brit forum when you see the guys on there talk about great chins, jabs, footwork, etc, in British fighters. IMO Buchanan had a top 3 jab, top 5 footwork, top 5 chin, top ten speed, top ten defence, top ten toughness/determination, top 5 ring IQ. His power is also underrated.

If Buchanan was around today he would dish out a serious boxing lesson on guys like Broner, he would make that flat footed hype job look seriously ****.

Ken caught a end of the line Laguna for the title in a very close bout. A few years earlier I'm not sure this wouldn't have been reversed. Laguna lost to a lower tier fighter before the rematch which was still a highly skilled bout. A good comparison might be Kenny against the lightweight Sweet Pea. As a earlier poster wrote Ken had springs for legs and he had a highly developed left jab. One of the cleverest I've ever seen. I've often wondered what his trainers would have tried to change had a rematch with Duran happened, Kenny's style was solidly set.
