He is listed #19 on Ring Magazine's list of 100 greatest punchers of all time. Skills are limited though and he only relied on his punching power. All of his KOs came from his left hand, wc is one of the hardest single punch in the history of lower weight classes.. Record is 49-1, 43KOs..
Hmm I wonder what a fight between say Khaosai Galaxy and Ricardo Lopez would have gone at say around 115lbs to be fair to both guys.?
Didn't fight any top 10 opponents, maybe 1 or 2, in his long reign as champ. That said, I think in terms of ranking him with his division, he is among the very top. I want to watch more Galaxy. Aside from a youtube search for early KO's or a highlight reel, does anyone know of a particular fight of his which is worthwhile?
Check his shootout with Israel Contreras who was a big puncher and a future bantam champion. Check Elly Pical fight (who was IBF champion - it was basically a unification fight) if you're looking for a long fight - Pical got dominated and took a beating for 14 rounds - a pretty good display of Khaosai's methodical style. Galaxy's opposition ranges from weak to mediocre but he was pretty consistent so if you're a fan of his style you'll probably like all of his fights as almost all of them (with a few exceptions) followed the same pattern.
