Len Wickwar had the most fights in boxing history, with a record of 340-87-43 with 94 KOs. But how good was he? Was he ever ranked highly or was a legitimate contender?
Very Good, and a Credit to TRUE Boxing, in that he was a Contender, a Fringe Contender, a Journeyman and at the Top or Among them for Years... 'IF' only we could get champions & contenders today with such 'a Willing' approach to fighting, Boxing would still be "in the Main". a Lost Fighter, Age and level of 'overall' greatness we will NEVER know again.
Following this... I'll admit I know nothing of this guy outside he is the answer to a trivia question. This is what I love about the history of this sport. There are always fighters worth learning more about.
Two wins over Ginger Sadd seems to have been the highlight of his career. He looks a capable pro on the bit of Footage against wild swinging Eric Boon .
On paper, Len Wickwar 1928 - 1947 boxing record. 473 fights 4,020 rds in a 19 year career. 342 wins is pretty impressive!
