Some posters today underate Marcel Cerdan because of his last fight with Jake LaMotta in 1947...WRONG...Cerdan had a badly injured shoulder when LaMotta wrestled Cerdan to the canvas in the very first round... I think that if not for this injury Cerdan would have won that bout...He was a great MW no doubt...But I wonder how Cerdan and La Motta would have fared a decade earlier against such top MWs as Billy Conn, Freddie Steele, Fred Apostoli, Al Hostak, Solly Krieger, Ken Overlin, Marcel Thil, Teddy Yarosz, Billy Soose, Jock McAvoy, Len Harvey etc.? The 1930s was a great decade of middleweights for sure...
Lamotta even said that Cerdan woulda beat him the second time. Wow woulda loved to see him vs Conn, Apostoli and Steele especially.
