It’s one of my favorite KOs of all time: Marvin hit him that left hand and it knocked Victor stumbling backwards across the ring and when he went down he nearly flipped completely over: ass over teakettle, head over heels. Pops earned that one against a tough hombre. Neither of them was up for rookie of the year at that point, haha.
I liked Marvin. I would have liked to see a fight between him and Yaqui Lopez. That would have been non-stop action. I'm not sure who would take that one if both were in their prime. Marvin was a harder puncher, Lopez was more durable with better stamina. A toss-up.
Russell Peltz said Johnson was the most talented of the bunch but fought like an amateur. He never learned to pace himself and at times his offense became his defense. The first Saad bout was one of the greatest fights I have ever seen- anyone else and Johnson would have won.
