I'm watching Patterson/Moore and I'm wondering, how good was Archie Moore against Patterson? He was the favorite going into the fight. Would the fight had been different if Moore had been younger? If they had fought at light heavyweight?
If Moore had been younger , possibly a lot more equal , still not sure Moore wins but we may have seen Floyd having to pick himself up a couple of times before he came back .At light heavy you have to give Archie a great chance obviously . But it's a tough question imo .
Floyd was brilliant vs a very past prime Moore. If Moore was younger vs the same Floyd, I'd say Patterson wins still. By KO. If we're talking about the Floyd that lost to Maxim then he gets brutally KOed by a prime Moore.
Yeah, I often wonder if they had fought in 1952 , assuming that Patterson came along earlier, who would have won. Even though, Moore was 39 then, he was one of those fighters who hit his prime later than usual.
Patterson probably deserved to win that fight with Maxim. I’m of the opinion had Patterson stuck to his natural weight of 175 he’d have been champ for probably a decade.
One thing people forgot about the fight was that it was a big upset. Moore was considered far too skilled for Patterson. Moore was questioned after his loss by his manager if he purposely threw the fight, to his alarm.
