How good was Oscar de la Hoya??

    I think we should remember that boxing has unfortunately become much more of a minority sport compared to the mainstream ratings winner it was in the eighties.I think Oscar slowed the decline and kept a wide audience interested in the lower weights for much longer than it would have taken without him.
    Like Sugar Ray Leonard during his career and for a while after he retired,there was a lot of resentment towards his fame,wealth and personality.
    He doesn't deserve the same credit as a fighter Ray gets,but maybe time will be kinder to Oscar when he's been retired a bit longer.
