I think Oscar will be best remembered for his work below 154 pds. Much like Duran, Hearns, and Leonard are known for their earlier divisions. But Oscar was pretty spectacular as a youngin'.

Great fighter who came up just short against the elites but an ATG no doubt.

One of the better 140-147's and had he won the fight against Tito (like he should have), would have gone down as one of the very best.

True and that's another reason why he's an ATG mega paydays to the lower weightclasses and huge PPV buy rates.

I think Oscar De La Hoya will be remembered for a lot more than Boxing. Oscar is the reason many non boxing fan started going to the fights. Oscar also made a lot of women pay atention to boxing. And that created a lot of money for a lot of people. Dela Hoya also demostrated you can be a good boxer and have brain. Many smart fighters now are following DLH footprints.

a Rubber match has to happen between these 2..IMO
I say Oscar still has one left for next May and gives us the Trinidad
    Re-Match just for nostolgia sake.

YES! they will be way past their best, but it has to be settled.
Leonard and Hearns did it again, Late aswell "F" it.
Trinidad can still go, let's get him down to 154lbs.
and make it happen, why not?

A Goodbye fight for both. huge payday and off into the sunset.
(regardless of how his '08 fights turn out)

Both of these fighter's take care of themself outside the ring.
which is why they are still fighting at a high level.
unlike other fighter's who have way since dissapeared from the scene
who come from the same era.

Good enough to beat the best, be considered P4P #1, be the first to beat Trinidad considering he was noticebaly smaller unlike Winky, Hopkins and RJJ. First and second to TKO Chavez. Good enough to destroy the likes of Hernandez, Gonzalez, Ruelas, Leija, Paez, like no other. Good enough to win championships in multiple weight classes and beat P4P champions.

definately an all time great. win loose or draw he has always fought the best. even the lesser names on his profile/record, like mayorga, are 2 weight world champions.

its amazing when you look down the list of names on his record, then compare it to hatton or calzaghe and you realise that while they are gr8, they their records have no substance until a few yrs ago. (typical frank warren fighters) then compare the fighters willingness to fight the best and the balls oscar has shown over the years gettin in with the best and fighting people in 6 diff weight divisions. e.g. going from 130 lbs as a super featherweight to stepping in with a 6"1 ATG 160lb middleweight king in b-hop. thats balls and thats the drive he has to fight the best. and yeah sometimes he has come up short but a lot of times hes come up trumps.
