at 154 it would have been a good fight, but at 147 oscar fought like he hadnt ate in 3 weeks and looked horridly pale and weak
You decide if De La Hoya is dehydrated: "Chavez's surrender was even worse than getting knocked out because he simply gave up." --- Oscar de la Hoya, post-fight interview after Chavez stayed in his stool after the 8th round. "I just couldn't figure out his style. I'm not shocked at this stage because when you face someone like Manny Pacquiao, it's going to be a hard fight." - De La Hoya right after loasing to Pac Pacquiao is good, theres no doubt about it, De La Hoya said. And hes fast. I thought there were 10 of him in there. Im looking here and hes over there. And Im reacting to a punch from this way and theres another coming at me from that way." - Oscar De La Hoya 9/16/09 "The key to the fight is not only Pacquiao's speed but is also the fact that he has been better with his technique. He is a technical fighter now with speed and power, and that Pacquiao is very difficult to beat." - Nacho Berinstein 10/4/09 "The weight thing is a bunch of baloney. Weight won't be a problem. De la Hoya has all the bases covered. Oscar has all the answers against Manny Pacquiao". "It's not the size and the height that will decide the match. The thing that will decide the match is that Oscar is the better fighter." - Angelo Dundee before Pac-Hoya fight.
Right so why did Freddie tell Manny to jump on Oscar because he noticed the needle marks on Oscars arms after they tried to rehydrate him before they went at it ??
Of course I didn't expect otherwise. However, ODLH had been saying that he was already under the 147 limit two to three weeks before the fight that was why most people believed him.
I think so too! Pac, if I was not mistaken was only 2 to 1 favorite vs Hatton and something like 3 to 2 vs Cotto. It was a big leap though from being a 7 to 1 underdog vs ODLH.
Im gonna agree 100% to this.... this fight really was a waste and a shitstain on two great fighters and boxing altogether. Even less valid when ODLH just praised Pacquiao as his son afterwards, as if this was a passing of the torch.... which it really was! Some awful setup and promoting on both sides, and this was Golden Boy Promo's way of consorting with Arum.... If i was Pacquiao, i would just scrub this lousy victory off my resume lol. This was ODLH at 50%.... this wasnt an integral victory
Yeah, you can argue all your life that Marquez beat Pacquiao twice but it's a losing argument!:rofl:rofl:rofl
