I agree...... Pinky Thomas MIGHT have beaten Holmes in 1984 when Thomas hit his peak and Holmes was slipping..... But overall, Thomas couldn't carry Holmes' jockstrap....... :-bbb MR.BILL
Again, I recall reading in KO mag. that Pinklon Thomas hooked with Jackie Kallen in the early 1990s and strung together a series of nondescript wins over bums and stiffs for chump change to round out his career......... Therefore, in a sense, I suppose Thomas finished as a winner........... atsch:shock:admin MR.BILL:hey
I thought Thomas was pretty good against Tyson and most competitive with him of all pre-Douglas title opponents. He won as many rounds after 5 as Tucker did after 12. He looked great against Weaver at times, but seemed to tire or just get sloppy, giving the latter a chance to come back. That finishing right hand was a beauty of a one-punch KO, though. Weaver wasn't the most durable of heavyweights. Against Holyfield, just half a year after the Tyson loss, he looked COMPLETELY shot, however. Probably went back to old habits to get over the devastating loss and it showed. He couldn't get a single right hand off and i wish they would've stopped it earlier. His career, that is.
Valuev held the WBA title when you posted that ! ..... anyway, Thomas was ok. very strong and durable. heavy jab. i think his biggest flaw was he tended to take too many punches, and he often lacked snap in his punches. he beat witherspoon clearly though, imo. but Witherspoon wasn't particularly good either.
