Looking back on Pirog he only really had 1 super notable fight, but he did KO Jacobs in that fight. And Jacobs is far from a bum.

Was pre back injury Pirog the second best MW in the world?

Because I really feel like he was.

He was one of the most skilled fighters of the last decade in my opinion, with a truly unique that was hard for most opponents to adequately adjust to, his wins over Maciel and Ishida were solid as well.

Without doubt the most overhyped fighter I have ever seen on this site.

He was in his prime for the Jacobs fight, but then his back got worse and worse, and you can see this in his fights.

In the Jacobs fight, he was bending his waist all the time throughout the fight, making his head a difficult target while he stalked Jacobs.

Against Ishida he was standing upright the whole time, and just boxing to outpoint him.

He was very good and would beat all current MW's beside Golovkin and maybe Jacobs

    Very.

    Loved watching that man fight.

He's like a Usyk, has great boxing ability and carries some pretty decent power.

Question was how good was Pirog, not how over hyped he was.

You need to calm down you little boxing expert before answering.

For those very few notable wins I would say he was very good but it is hard to judge because he managed to fight so little of the better guys.

I guess Jacobs becoming middleweight champ after being destroyed by Pirog shows Pirog wasnt all fluke..

I think he was borderline top 5 courtesy of a come from behind ko victory against a top opponent.

I think talk of him being a great was ludicrous.

And I've no need to calm myself nor over excite myself. I'm not that emotionally invested in Pirog, he wasn't around long enough to illicit that kind of support.

I don't know but I think white guys with some slickness tend to get overrated because it's far from the norm.

Very good fighter but below the level of the likes of GGG/Kovalev.

He may have been the best. We don't know. Jacobs was the last fight where his back was serviceable.
