How good was he? Was he avoided? In the 90''s, how does he compare to others like Morrison, Mercer, Tua, Ibeaubuchi, Ruddock etc?
I dunno if too many people ever got to know, as in a lot of his tv fights I have seen (granted this isn't many) and in a couple articles I read that were written when he still actively fought, it is always alluded to, or a vibe was there that while an obviously talented fighter, with a stupid strong punch, he was a guy who could have been better, but he had other pursuits or joys etc, people often say he was a better golfer than fighter and in my experience, golf is a sport that, for that to be a legit true statement, I don't know how he could even be thought to be devoting enough time to boxing. But again, those are coming from friends etc, so who knows. it is just that the same kinda opinions about the guy are always mentioned, and the feeling of "a guy who could be more" seems to be the vibe. If it is a fact that he was a paid golf course pro/trainer or whatever, post boxing career, would seem to say that is a guy who had his heart in something else more than boxing. So if others in the sport active at the time knew of those things, or sensed them, or felt he gassed out if you could stay in long enough with him, than I doubt that he was dodged any more or less than other guys would be. I think if teams felt their fighter could handle a big puncher for the early rds, than the fight would continue to get increasingly winnable the longer it goes. Edit: I think when the pro career of Vitali ended, it really added some shine to, at the very least, Corrie's standing as a legit big puncher, although I think it adds shine to more than that aspect of his game
