How good was prime Holyfield's work rate?

I think that, as a fighter, Holyfield peaked as a cruiserweright, and that carried into his early days as a heavy.
At some point I think that Holyfield bought into the same falsehood that Tyson and Morrison did. I think that all 3 of them disliked doing cardio- and this is pretty common knowledge for Holyfield- but found that, by lifting weights, they could look good without actually being fight ready. When that happened Evander became a guy that punched from his shoulders down instead of from the floor up; they created the 'heart problems' to explain that away. You would see him get winded in fights, most notably in the 3rd Bowe fight.

 

But who were the giants he missed out on ? He fought two of the most notable Super Heavyweights of his era Lewis, Bowe.

Even at the end of his career pushing 50 he fought Valuev who was close to 7 feet.

As for Holyfield's early Heavyweight career ? He was fighting the likes of Dokes, Thomas, who were 6'3 and 220+ pounds.

Douglas close to 6'4 with an 83 inch reach 230+ pounds.

Not exactly small Heavyweights he was fighting.

Also some of the names you listed there like Mercer yes he was 6'1 but he was very stocky and built and had a 15-20 pound weight advantage over Holyfield.

Did Holyfield ever have a weight advantage over any of his Heavyweight opponents ?

 

At Cruiserweight his workrate was unbelievable he threw over 1000 punches vs Qawi and I can't really think of any other Cruiserweight capable of doing that apart from Usyk.

I think at Heavyweight he still had good workrate but he fought and bit more in spurts.

Bowe actually outworked Holyfield in all 3 of their fights which shows how good Bowe's workrate was for a big man who wasn't always in the best of condition.

 

It's absolutely nuts. Jirov threw 1020 something in 12 against Toney.

 

He was slightly heavier than Toney and Byrd. Equal weight to Moorer 1 and Tyson 2.
