No, because they were the best fighters in the world who were known for these particular things. Ali was the fastest among the fastest HWs. If you don't understand the difference between well-trained amateur and professional champion then you either have no experience at real fighting (which is true, as you basically said so) or you are a stupid narcist who is delusional enough that he thinks he can beat the best sportsmen in the world at their sport. What is your KO percentage against anyone in professional fight? But you are not Usain Bolt, you are an idiot who never trained professionally and has no experience in real boxing matches.
Frazier would have destroyed any heavyweight that left his head on the center after punching with his counter hooks, which modern heavy has a hook like Frazier`s? Don`t say Whyte`s because Whyte`s punches are more predictable than Joe`s who also had great head movement, Louis was one of the greatest combo punchers of all-time.
I agree absolutely from an overall level, most especially defense. However, I think even prime Mike would have gotten stopped by Bowe of Holyfield I. Mike would have probably put Bowe on the floor, but Bowe had both that amazing jab and brutal uppercut....just my opinion.
Contrary to popular belief, Ali was not that skilled. Similar to Roy Jones, his success was due to his incredible physical attributes: speed, reflexes, stamina. Tyson, Lewis, Bowe, Holyfield, the Klitschkos - all are far more skilled than Ali. And in current times, Fury is.
It was a clubbing, sloppy fight. And Bowe almost got KTFO! But Hide was a very good heavyweight with a deceptively sharp, stabbingly effective punch.
Herbie Hide had a pedestrian career. Donald barely did better. Golota beat the **** out of Bowe. Just stop.
The biggest problem was that 7 ft fridge he bought for his bedroom. I think he'd have taken lewis in 93/95. I agree sadly he may have suffered some neurological damage in the Amateurs. Good guy...v talented, heart, will to win....43-1....h2h in my book a top 12 HW...god bless him
I agree on Tyson but Fury overcommitts with his jab and his offense is very predictable, Bowe and Holy got hit far more than 1960`s Ali did and Lewis ws a lot easier to hit with the jab, Mercer and Bruno landed far more jabs on Lewis than tyhey would have on Ali.
I never claimed I'd beat Ali, I said my speed is very good and close to that of the fastest HW's, that's an entirely different thing. And btw, Patterson and Tyson match or even exceed Ali's hand speed. That is irrelevant. Just cause someone is a pro, does not mean he punches harder. The fact that I never turned pro does not mean I never trained like one, they aren't mutually exclusive in case you didn't know.
Yes, Ali was harder to hit, but not cause he was more skilled, it's cause he was so damn fast and with incredible reflexes.
I don't see Frazier as more skilled. Perhaps Louis was, but if he trades with Bowe, he'll loose. But assuming that they were, it still does not mean they'd win. Plenty were more skilled than Foreman, yet they did not beat him.
He dealt successfully with a tremedous mental burden...gonzalez had kayoed him before....and was goading him...it was a needle fight....bowe was v mentally tough
