You're likely right - I refer to every suspected USA based PED user as BALCO, whether named or not. Either way, I suspect that he was on something at some point - makes me asterisk.

There is, however, a part of me that says expecting top top champions to train consistently and fight consistently something has to give - if they're going to do steroids anyways, give them all the same access, standardize it and let the best rise to the top.

I love Jones but feel he's overrated at 175 by many .... to me his biggest win was the body shot KO of Hill and the Montell rematch ... he just never blew me away at 175 ... he was possibly the greatest 160 pounder ever and 168 for sure in his prime ... I feel he coasted at the 175 for the most part and wasn't challenged till very late ... Charles, Moore, Tunney, Conn, Spinks, Foster over him ... A prime Mustafa Muhammad a very tough fight and I would have loved to see him fight a prime Saad , so strong and would have made Roy fight ....

I'm not one of those who thinks his chin was terrible all along. Remember he'd been a pro for nearly 15 years before the Tarver KO. And was only down once, briefly, in that time (Del Valle). While he didn't get hit a lot, I still saw him take solid whacks, from time to time - including up at heavyweight.
He was 34 \ 35(?) by the time of Tarver 2. With no previous history of showing a bad chin. And then suffered a string of KO losses as an 'old man' in the ring. Jones fought for SO long, he effectively had two careers - a good and a bad one. And I just don't think the evidence is there in his best years to argue he had a glass jaw.
