Granite chin, heart of a champion but limited skill set. The next step up for Scott would have been the likes of Marquez or Pacquiao and either of these guys would have probably posted a wide points win.
IF he didnt have his troubles, he would hve went on to be the greatest scottish fighter of all time. THATS how good he was. However, hes gone for good now. Many will be happy & relieved it ended like this. Cos they knew how good he was deep in their hating hearts.
Completely destroyed Wayne Mac, even though Wayne was a bit past the sell by date. He would have lost against the real top guys though on UD because he was a slow starter who would grind fighters down. The top guys would have built unassailable leads and Harrison would most likely have not been able to stop them. A bit of a howard eastman-william joppy scenario whereby Harrison would finish the stronger but still lost overall.
I'm ashamed of the guy to be honest. I'm a Scot and he's let his country down. On his day he was ferocious to watch. Performance against the Mcullough was brilliant. Unfortunately he liked to give people a battering in and out the ring. He'll never get his career back now.
Better than Bucannan Dunky? I know some people think he gets too much credit of the Duran loss and the Laguna win but still I thought Harrsion had quite a bit of catching up to do?
Read the thread title again. No one was asking what you thought of his antics that led him to jail. Get off your moral ****ing high horse for a minute & just answer the bloody question, thats if you are capable enough of course. Sometimes I jump to conclusions too early in here & think certain posters have a mind at all, never mind a mind of their own.
IMO, yes. Its a dead argument, cos Harrison will never prove anyone right or wrong now. As you well know. The scottish greats were great, but Harrison would have been the greatest. I was just answering the question honestly.
It's difficlut to say when scott was focussed and 100%. Certainly latterly for fights like hussein he was on the bevy and was nearly beaten. in fact, if hussein had testicles i think he would have stopped harrisonlate in the fight. We'll never know the answer as to how good he would have been but at the time he was at the right level, defending WBO.
An average world champion who beat his opponents with raw determination and bunches of punches. His skills were extremely limited. His boxing ability and movement weren't his strong points. He wasn't a knockout artist but rather relied on accumulation. While he held a portion of the featheweight championship, he was light years away from the other champions in the division who reigned at the same time as him. Barrera, Morales, Marquez, and Pacquiao. If his defense was that of a country defending itself I'd rate it the same as Iraq's when under fire from the US during the first Gulf War.
He looked great against certain types of fighters, but was a bit limited and one dimensional to be a great fighter. I am not interested in his personal troubles, I can only judge him on what I saw when he fought in a boxing ring.
