I'm sure it's fair to say he was world class. He would, could and did compete with the best on the world stage. He's not a great like MAB or PAC but he could always win a belt.
Harrison was very limited. But he made up for that with his tenacity never say die attitude aggresive style and solid mentaility when in the ring. He wasnt much of a puncher but he had a sluggers style and could walk opponents down. BUT he could be easily outboxed as an old Medina stood him on his head. He fought in what at the time was a deep division. He wouldnt have been MAB or Morrales but he would have given them a very tough time. His certainly one of Scotlands best fighters as well as a tragic waste.
Id like to think he would. I had alot of time for Brodie. But Brodies best days were at Bantam. Although he couldnt make the weight anymore he just didnt have the pop to get anyones respect much less for Harrison who just walked him down and brutalised him. The guy used to mark so bad! Remember his war with Injin Chi? That was British boxing at its best. The kid had a ton of heart and balls of steel. Shame about the rematch but we knew it was coming..:yep
Yep, great fight but the rematch was an easy call. I think even prime for prime Harrision just had too much for Brodie at 126.
Thats what i think. If Brodie had stayed behind the jab and stuck to a game plan he could may be have won a close UD. But it was too easy to drag him into a war plus he marked up too badly.
A ridiculously strong featherweight with limited skills. A WBO champion as a featherweight, a run-of-the-mill contender as a super-feather. He got many favours based purely on his size and physical advantages. In terms of ability and natural talent - nothing to write home about.
Entertaining fights with JMM, MAB, Pacquiao, Morales and In Jin Chi He was btter than everyone else and at his best(Wayne McCulloch fight was last time i saw him at his best) could have beaten Chi and given Morales & Barrera hell, JMM would have picked him off but SH would try walking him down.
Ken B was a lightweight who would stand all time contenders, champs and greats on their head. He'd dominate Harrison. Hardly worth thinking.
The funny thing is that Harrison is a featherweight for as long as he stands on those scales. Outside of that he is everything but a featherweight
The guy walked around at welter/light middle. He was a feather since 15 and still made the weight into his late 20`s. Dont ask me how..
He had his pluses and his minuses. A bit like Hatton in that imo if boxers still weighed in the day of the fight, he wouldn't have gone as far. Strong and durable, quite poor technique but made up for the by the fact that he could make weight and then pile it back on so he was twice the size of his opponent when they got in the ring. That's the main reason I personally never took to him (or Hatton for that matter). He was good at what he did though, not in the same class as the Barrera's, Morales', Marquez's or Pacquiao's of this world but tough.
Harrison never fought above feather mate. He lost his title when he couldnt make 126 for Nicky Cook and hasn't fought since. Unless you mean that he would have been average at 130?
