Right. I’m sure your research on this subject is very impressive. I look forward to reading your paper.
Crazy reflexes and had an inate quality that allowed him to anticipate his opponents moves and counter them. He was doing things no one else was doing before or since. He lacked punching power but was so elusive and crafty his opponents could never break his rhythm or find their own. Whitaker was a magician
He was also coked up for most of his career so the scary thing is Whitaker could have even been better than what we saw from him as a pro? He had a natural fighters instinct which enhanced his unique style no one had ever saw before.
A boxing genius and stylistic nightmare who i would only favor a handful of boxers from 135-147 to beat. At 135 and 140 he could arguably beat any boxer in history.
Yes at those weights he can beat anybody on any given night I would think. Although I wouldn't favor him to beat Duran or Pryor. Those would be some tough fights for him. You have to remember that Whitaker is a light hitter. You take a relentless pressure fighter and Pea might not have the power and strength to get them off of him. You could say Chavez Jr. couldn't do it. But it was a different style pressure. A slow, calculating type pressure. Not the balls to the wall pressure of Pryor or Duran.
Whitaker is the only fighter in history that I know of who I would pick to outbox Floyd Mayweather at 135. Not outfight or pressure him, but outbox.
Brilliant and as far as I am concerned he was the 1st to beat Chavez but was robbed in there drawn fight where Whitaker frustrated Chavez big time totally outboxing him .Chavez only won 3 rounds on my scorecard and Whitaker was robbed again afterwards by Don King who made sure he was never given a rematch .
Possibly pbf was the better counter puncher was faster with longer reach. Pea had the better jab and workrate. Pick em fight to me.
