to me the douglas fight is the only fight i would say tyson was truly knocked out...unlike the other knockout losses tyson looked like he really didnt know where he was at...crooked mouthpiece and wobbling up arms down at 10

Yep....pushed down with a "crunching right hand"!!!!

In saying that his chin was very good, but it was his head that was ****ed. Whenever he couldnt dominate someone he just crumbled inside

Then what exactly is 1st tier?

I think Tyson's chin is tier 1 because his punch resistance is such that he almost immune from flash KD's unlike Holmes, Ali, Frazier, Liston, Mercer etc.

Tyson is a come foward fighter, he doesnt dance or use lateral movement when he fights so the impact of the blow's he absorbs is generally going to be harder because when he's caught with a clean shot, he's either stationary or on the way in. Had Tyson used lateral movement or danced in his fights he'd never hit the canvas simply because the force of the blows would be reduced.

Ali can be dropped by a single hard punch, usually a left hook and it has happened several times in his career.

Foreman can take "light punishment" but single hard punches can and will wobble him.

Frazier can be taken out by a big puncher.

Holmes was a sucker for right hands and has been dropped several times in his career.

When Tyson was dropped or hurt; it was late in the fight and it was preceeded by heavy punishment. I give him tier 1 because of his punch resistance.

Overall: an 8 or 8.5. Yes, I do think it makes the top tier.

I think the only time tyson was knocked down by one punch not preceded by a **** load of punishment was the first fight with holy?

I think your right. Ironically that came the round after Tysons best of the fight.

    I tend to agree.

His chin was always the last thing to give.

I f it had been a game of football he would have been carried off on a stretcher and that is no bull****. The man is a lot tougher than credit is given

Tyson's chin is one of the best it was his come forward style where he can take a lot of punishment that was behind his knockout losses

Iron chin. In his early career, he would walk through punches without even blinking. Ruddock hit him with bombs and Tyson didn't even flinch. Lewis hit Tyson with some NASTY punches; he even said he was shocked that Tyson took them.

And btw, to the TC, McBride didn't KO Tyson. And whoever mentioned the knee injury with Williams, good point. Tyson tore something in his knee, and its amazing that he even kept fighting like that. Bottom line, Tyson's never been one punch KO'd or knocked down. It's always taken brutal punishment to get him off his feet.

no way, have you seen the fight? You can clearly see where he twists his knee. It's actually painful to watch.

    It was a balance shot.

Tyson was off balance and Holyfield countered.
