Again not like Quartey was some bum. Both these guys make today's welters look pitiful. But you can see Forrest's flaws in this fight. Wide looping punches, too wide a stance, susceptible to being countered, and a jab thats not as dominating as it should be.

Ummmmmm....... you DO realize Mosley was the consensus P4P #1 when Forrest beat him, don't you?

And Forrest was NOT a "slugger". WTF are you talking about?

Forrest had serious shoulder issues, which limited the effectiveness of his jab, which was excellent at his best.

He's only overrated if compared to all time greats, which he's generally not.

Both Quartey and Forrest were past it in this fight, but granted, Quartey did deserve to win. Terrible robbery.

Forrest certainly had flaws, you are correct. He was far from being the most complete fighter around.

But a "slugger" he was not.

He had very good technical skills, a powerful right hand, and underrated handspeed.

Sadly, his prime was over in the blink of an eye.

At his best, I think he would have been a handful for DLH.

Trinidad was a bad matchup for him though, and would have KO'd him.

Mosley's flaws became apparent later on as well. Great win, however when you have 2 guys who rely on their natural athleticism to win fights, usually the bigger, longer guy wins.

See the clip above that personified alot of Forrests fights. Him trying to land big shots instead of boxing intelligently while his opponent lands precise counters.

When I say slugger I dont mean Ricky Hatton. I mean he tended to load up on his shots, and his jab was primarily used to set up his right hand. I would call Mosley a slugger in a similar vein. Both could box, but would rather land blistering punches in an attempt to get their opponent out of there sometimes sacrificing technique.

His right hand was nasty, but often times he'd over sell it and actually have his back to his opponent with the ferociousness he was trying to land it with.

Here he is trying to slug it out with Mayorga. Forrest had a tendency to lose himself like this in a lot of his fights. Which was just in his warrior nature. Which probably would have been his downfall had he been matched with higher caliber opponents consistently.

Hard to say he would beat Floyd but he sure would trouble him, he would beat Bradley and Guerrero no doubt.

LOL. Ok, now THIS is overrating him.

Forrest had nowhere near the power of G-Man. Didn't have G-Man's chin either.

  11. He's completely ****, Mayorga beat him twice.

  12. Mosley was a pile of **** steroid user.

It took Forrest ten years to get a big fight! Partly because he was avoided. Partly because the Duvas were cheap in there offers to contenders above him.
Fighting Mosley when he was 31 would indicate he was already past his best.

Forrest from the first Mosley fight would beat a whole lot of good and great fighters around his era and even some more dated greats at WW.
