I never followed his career because I thought he was freak show. I know he was the beneficiary of several close “iffy” decisions but looking over his resume it does look decent/good. Was his size and just enough skill enough to make him difficult for most or was he fraudulent?
Uncrackable chin, freakish strength, great power, relatively good hand speed basic fundamentals paired with an awesome jab. He often sleep walked through fights in his mortal form we have on film but once the giants eyes opened he often brutalised his opponents like children if he harnessed his aggression like he did in those fickle few moments not many could stand with him.
He holds wins over - Monte Barret, Owen Beck, Sergei liakovich, Clifford Etienne, Ruiz (2x), Old Holyfield (disputed), Jameel McCline (injury pull out), and a faded Larry Donald. His two losses were to Haye and Chagaev. He was never knocked out. He looks awfully slow and ponderous in the ring and I have no doubt a good big heavyweight would be a nightmare for him. Wlad, Fury etc but his resume isn’t that bad. He was a serviceable strap holder.
Valuev never lost to a tall fighter. But Wladimir Klitschko's record against the best tall oponents(Sanders,Fury,Joshua) is 0-3. Valuev never lost to a bum like Puritty. (Puritty who destroyed Wladimir klitschko.) Valuev beat an ATG (Holy) and wladimir Klitschko never. Nobody could knock out Valuev but Wladimir Klitschko has ko losses and wladimir was down several times. Etc. Otherwise Fury never beat a so big, decent, not old fighter like Valuev. All in all your Wlad and Fury examples are far away from the facts and objectivity. This comes from a klitschko fan. Too bad
LOL - Valuev was battered by 5'9'' shot, fat cruiserweight Marcelo Dominguez - Valuev didn't beat ATG Holyfield He LOST to 46-years-old totally shot Holyfield but was given a gift from judges. And Chris Byrd really beat much younger and better version of Holyfield, while Wlad beat Byrd twice. Plus he easily beat Chagaev and Haye, both of whom beat Valuev
Far from good, VERY far. I think James Toney from Holyfield fight would kick his ass BADLY Here is Valuev's fight against 5'9'' old, fat cruiserweight Marcelo Dominguez This content is protected
Povetkin >>>>>> Valuev Ibragimov >>>>>> Valuev I think both would completely outclass Nikolay and Povetkin would probably laid him out cold with a nasty left hook Hell, I'd favor Oleg Maskaev and even Alexander Zolkin to beat Valuev
Thinking he might be out of the , Carnera, Wiilard, Abe Simon, mould, looks like they can/should be able to take your head off, but in reality dont punch as hard as thier bulk would suggest, so bit of a dissapoinment overall.
yeah good might be a little strong of an assessment. I never watched his bouts, and don’t view him as very good in video. But his resume isn’t horrible. It’s average for a belt holder and better than I thought it was. But he doesn’t look good
