i dont think any welter or junior middle could **** wit this man. not even may or pac! rest in peace. gentelmen discuss...... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQ0DzvN7Px8[/ame]
Vernon was a great fighter. Too bad he was avoided like the plague during his prime, he could have accomplished a lot more.
Forrest, was a Danger to anybody who fought him and he was avoided during his career. A very good champion who should be inducted in the Hall of Fame.
....ehh...winky was good but i dont think he could handle vernons long jab...which was the best in the biz around that time...
Forrest fought Mayorga with no respect in the first fight and he got caught. In the second fight mayorga clearly got in his head and Vernon was hesitant. I still think Forrest won the second fight.
Forrest always seems to get excused for his losses to Mayorga.... The first fight he showed Mayorga no respect.... and got sparked. Ok.... Then the second fight he came in with a gameplan and cautious, and still lost (but then its 'well, mayorga was in his head') so what.... Mayorga beat forrest twice in a row.... Mayorga was made to beat forrest, it just is what it is, that fight isnt controversial eather, Mayorga won the second close but clear. And Forrest goes on to show that strong fighters that put on pressure will always be his achilles heel (Ike) That being said, Forrest was a fantastic fighter who i think holds his own against any welter out there today and who i would make a favorite against all of them as well, including mayweather. Awsome, well rounded, well schooled fighter....
I dont want to be one of those people who says someone was better than they were after they died but Forrest was very under-appreciated when he was around
