I think Forrest lost some credibility when the 'Pretender' beat him, and especially when Mayorga toyed with him.
You are judging him on an amateur fight? Do you know how many fights we can look at where one fighter loses in the amateurs to so and so only to turn pro and beat the guy? Tszyu was older as well. And remember if Tszyu thought he could have beaten a Prime/Pro Forrest, he would have moved up to 147 when Forrest beat Shane and fought for big money in the spotlight. Forrest said he would accept a fight with him. Tszyu stayed at 140. There was also something about Forrest's left-shoulder being bad for most of his career but he kept fighting with it until it finally was so bad he had to get surgery. He didn't want to get surgery before because of how long it would take to recover...which we saw it did when he did finally get it done. It cost him the use of his left to be 100%, which his Jab was very important. Emanuel Steward mentioned it. Anybody remember/know the details?
Maybe, but he was around 37 years old and he did make up for it in the rematch. Just a bad night I would say. At that age especially, it happens.
Didn't Roger Mayweather say something about the man that would have given Floyd is toughest challenge is dead....referring to the man that beat Shane Mosley...VERNON FORREST
